Dennis_taylor_strictly_come_dancingIt’s day two of our pre-series Strictly Come Dancing betting odds round-up. For the rest of the week, we’re going to be profiling the celebrity duffers who are under the impression that they’re good at something other than reading stuff of an autocue.

Of course, since all the betting odds this week are based on nothing more than speculation, now might be the best time to bet. If you happen to know, for example, that Gloria Hunniford is a boddypopping dance machine that just can’t be stopped, you’ll get far better odds now, because everyone thinks she’s a frail old lady, but on Saturday as the nation realises that she’s an electric dance stormtrooper, her odds will drop sharply. So now’s the time to act on hunches.

So here are the betting odds for three more Strictly Come Dancing contestants, from hecklerspray and Betfair.com

Patsy Palmer – Since leaving her role as screaming loudmouthed ginger
cockney Bianca in Eastenders, Patsy Palmer hasn’t really done much with
her life. There was a TV show about dogs, but that probably doesn’t
count. Maybe she’s spent her time away from the limelight by busting
moves 24/7 in preparation for Strictly Come Dancing. Actually, that’s
not the case at all. In fact, all the training she’s been doing has been giving Patsy
dizzy spells, which means she’s missed a lot of sessions. She’s looking
like a weak link, to be honest. Current odds – 25/4

Colin Jackson
– Colin is famously rather light on his feet; he’s
especially good and running short distances and jumping over stuff.
Will he be able to transfer this valuable skill over to the art of dressing
up in spangly leotards and twirling a lady around? The betting public
seem to think so – they’ve instated Colin as the favourite male in the
competition. However, Colin’s rampant intimacy issues may be a factor
during a series – he thinks dancing with a stranger is "spooky".
Current odds – 29/4

Dennis Taylor
- The primary skill of Dennis Taylor is the ability to
wear funny glasses to divert people’s attention away from his crashing
lack of personality. His secondary skill is snooker, a game so dull
that John Virgo can manage to stand out as some kind of hilarious showman. Is his
tertiary skill ballroom dancing? Unlikely – he’s joint outsider for the
series. He likes to jive to Two Hearts by Phil Collins, for fuck’s
sake. Current odds – 54/1
