Perhaps there’s something wrong with us, but we’re actually starting to enjoy Strictly Come Dancing this year. Maybe we’re getting old. Or maybe we just like watching Bruce Forsyth’s mind slowly unravel a little more each week. Yes, that’s it.
Anyway, Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing was the last of the series to be split into genders with the female celebrities taking part only. That means next week will be the first all-in edition of Strictly Come Dancing, where the male and female dancers will all intermingle. Or, as we like to put it, each moment of gracefully elegant nubile young starlets bending and writhing hypnotically to the music will be countered by a giant bald retired snooker player thwumping about like a zombie trying to wipe out an ant infestation. Wonderful.

Penny Lancaster – If the BBC ever decided to make a TV show called Strictly Come Writhing Around Like A Tapeworm-Ridden Stripper, Penny Lancaster would absolutely walk it, because that’s pretty much her shtick at the moment. However, confusing a Saturday teatime BBC family ballroom dancing show with an audition for Britain’s Got Unusually Tall Nymphomaniacs seems to have done the trick for Penny Lancaster because her – admittedly very good – Quickstep to I’m Sitting On Top Of The World had the Strictly Come Dancing judges shrieking and babbling like Britney Spears talking to her children. “You were like the spirit of ecstasy on the floor,” one of them said, although we don’t think Rolls Royce cars would be nearly as popular if they all came with Rod Stewart‘s wife hoofing it up and down the bonnet all the time.
