Digg this!

Strictly_come_dancing_betting_odds_fionaLast Saturday, more people watched Strictly Come Dancing than X Factor. What does that tell us? That Bruce Forsyth is prettier than Kate Thornton? Possibly. That the foreign judge with the funny voice is more of a loon than Sharon Osbourne? Maybe.

We think the reason that more people watched Strictly Come Dancing than X Factor is because watching famous people dance like morons is funnier than listening to unknown people singing like morons. And don’t forget that betting on the winner makes Strictly Come Dancing even better.

On Saturday Fiona Phillips was eliminated from the show; no great surprise – if she was a horse she’d have been shot and boiled down for glue long ago – but how has this affected the dancers’ hopes of winning Strictly Come Dancing?

Here’s part one of our betting odds to win Strictly Come Dancing, with help from Betfair.com

Zoe Ball – Zoe has firmly re-established herself as the favourite to
win Strictly Come Dancing after her Foxtrot to Isn’t She Lovely.
Somehow Zoe managed to shake off her clumpy laddishness to manage a few
minutes of elegance. The judges went crazy for her, too. Perhaps a
little too crazy. "You should have children!" one of them told Zoe and
her partner. Uh-oh – you don’t have to tell Zoe twice. SCORE – 36 -
Current odds – 2.4

Darren Gough – As much as it tears our insides to pieces to say so,
Darren Gough actually danced fairly well on Saturday. Maybe it was
because he picked a decent song to dance to – Please Don’t Let Me Be
Misunderstood
– but the judges loved him, too. "You must have been a
dancer in a previous life,"
he was told. Well, a dancer or a tubby
baker. One or the other. SCORE – 34Current odds – 8

Colin Jackson – This week Colin made a potentially fatal mistake: dancing the Paso Doble to Thriller. Everyone knows there’s only one to
dance to Thriller – like a zombie or a werewolf or something. But no,
not Colin. Instead, he did some more of his wiggly hipped-over-exertion
and the judges didn’t notice: "It was a very odd choice of music but
you came out on top."
See? SCORE – 31Current odds – 3.9

Patsy Palmer – Last week Patsy said something nasty about some of
the judges, meaning that she had to dance her way out of trouble on
Saturday. And she did. She Foxtrotted to You’re Nobody Until Somebody
Loves You
– sadly not the Shooby Taylor version – and the judges were
won over. "I have three words to say – smooth, effortless and elegant,"
one said. Technically, it was four words if you count the "and,"
though. There’s just no telling some people. SCORE – 31 - Current odds
- 7.6
