Stevie Wonder Implies That God Killed John Lennon

Digg this!

Stevie Wonder has got some mental musings going on behind those sunglasses.

Like some crazy AM radio Alabama preacher, he has announced that he thinks the death of John Lennon might have been something altogether more supernatural than the tragic action of a maniac gunman.

Apparently the whole sorry shebang of Lennon’s murder was "inevitable"… and all because of the ex-Beatle’s lack of faith in religion.

Stevie Wonder (CDs) admits to being devastated by the news of John Lennon’s death 25 years ago, but remains staunch in his opinion that the death could have been the work of some badass holy karma-army:

"After he died I couldn’t stop crying whenever I heard Imagine, but I wasn’t surprised that he’d been shot. The guy said he shot him because he said he didn’t believe in Jesus, and I remember when I heard Imagine, I thought, ‘Somebody is not going to like that.’"

Is this really the case? Is Stevie Wonder really implying that because John Lennon refused to ascribe to a pre-medieval fairy tale that the ‘Good Lord’ came and struck him down? It would seem so.

Somebody should give Stevie David Icke’s number. hecklerspray thinks they’d get along just fine.

You have, I believe, reached the wrong conclusion, Stevie never said he thought God struck down Lennon, read more carefully, and it become obvious that he meant the song Imagine would cause Lennon trouble because of it’s sentiment that we can choose not to feed the illusion. Now that sentiment brings him into alignment with David Icke, not the idea that Jesus is punishing those not practicing the Christian faith. Reread with this in mind.

Anyone else get the impression that this article might have been intended as a teeny-weeny little bit tongue-in-cheek? Wonder’s statement was superbly ambigious and badly-thought-out and therefore ripe for the mickey-taking (although – on a serious note – I do feel there is definitely a hint of something unsettling in his musings). Agree with me? Disagree? Want to verbally disembowel me? Let’s hear it ….

I did not come to the same conclusion as you about Stevie’s comment. To me Stevie merely felt that there may be a few fanatical people who might have a hard time dealing with the concept in “Imagine”.

If you are truly familiar with Stevie and have followed him through the years you would have known better to assume , twist a comment around, and come up with such a misleading accounting of his statement.

Thank you for such a great example of why nobody trusts what they read in the media today.

The media is known for it’s misleading headlines thats how they get people to read their shit

No wonder you think the Holy Scripture is a “fairy tale” … you can’t even read something and see what it’s actually saying. That Quote from Stevie Wonder is obviously not about God killing John Lennon, but rather what someone might do because they were offended by the lyrics. An all-powerful, all-knowing God wouldn’t have to wait until the song came out in order to hear it, much less DO something about it. It’s hard to believe someone pays you to do this job … of course maybe that will change.

Yea, read comments more carefully, people will write musings like this and say whatever, but thats ok, because it brings to light there own faults, like reading more carefully, as for the writer and whoever that reads this I would hope and encourage them to put there money where there mouth is and stop shouting from roof tops bad things on religion, and check the scriptures themselves debate the scriptures, and not this mediocre, adolecent “I just dont believe!! followed by curse words, Man if you do that just dont say anything against religion why on earth should anyone listen to you? I mean if there is a hell Like one athiest put it Why arnt the christians screaming in the street if there loved ones are going to burn in hell for all eternity? I would agree with this, but i would say Well they need to check the scriptures and at least admit they might be wrong, or if they are wrong then where would they go? Hell, Not just a cartoon hell either where satan is there friend, they cant even get over this and admit what the bible depicts hell is, because there denying that also.

Secondly, How on earth would god kill john lennon? I mean if there is a god first of all, then secondly if people are allowed to do evil, then why could john lennon just walk around and do what he wanted to do. First of all thats just the thing, nobody is saying that john lennon deserved to be shot, that guy who claimed he did it because of jesus is a bozo, people should of questioned him too, that guy isnt even a christian i can tell you that, but it is like the media, and people alike to collect them as figure heads of christianity but when an athiest or muslim do a horindus crime its a diffrent story, they shouldnt even put somebody in the face of any religion, convieniently when they are doing things supposidly against there own religion. Back to the point, if there is a god he doesnt need to be killing anyone because thats something that can happen to anyone, if theres evil in the world, then anyone can pick up a gun and blast you just as you can sin against god also, or just as It is bad when hitler killed millions of people, why does everyone want him to go to hell, but when somebody gets shot everyone blames god or religion, see thats just it chritianity is about you believing in god for god to save you, because you are not worthy enough to save yourself, because you sin and you need a god, so when anyone wants to say man god killed so and so ,thats bogus because theres evil in the world just as someonelike john lennon could sin, some guy could sin to and shoot him, but in no way or form am i saying he should be shot and the guy should stay in jail who shot him, im saying check for your self the scriptures, and for that I pray for john lennon also, we all should.
