As I’ve previously blogged about, this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition features a stunning 63-year-old Christie Brinkley, which is pretty awesome because for years it’s always been one basic age bracket of women featured in the magazine. I also applauded them last year for having three covers, two of which featured plus-size model Ashley Graham and world famous athlete Ronda Rousey.
This year classic SI cover girl Kate Upton is back, (Upton is a size 8, btw, not your standard size 2 model), but the magazine itself has really taken a turn for the diverse, with women ranging from ages 18 to 63, sizes 2 to 16, plus various races and body types. I’m actually mega impressed!
Aside from Graham, who is once again featured this year, plus-sized models Hunter McGrady and Robyn Lawley also appear in this years issues looking mega fine. I mean, I’m baffled that Robyn Lawley I considered plus size, but a size 12 in the fashion world is plus sized, but it’s still great to see her in here!
This years issue also features more athletes than ever! Aly Raisman, Serena Williams, and Simone Biles are all featured looking strong af!
Then of course you have 63-year-old Christine Brinkley:

In all my years of following the SI Swimsuit Issue (which is many), this is hands down the most diverse group of women I’ve seen in the magazine. There’s different body types, different ages, different races, and everyone looks great and healthy and happy and like they’re having so much fun (they’re at the beach, of course they’re having fun!)
So props to you, Sports Illustrated, for continuing to take steps in the right direction! Maybe next year you can feature a really short thirty-something mom so I can have someone to relate to. Like, see what Kourtney Kardashian is up to. She’s probably do it, and she’s hands down the least annoying Kardashian sister. Hook it up!
