Poor actors. They spend their? days toiling on the boards to no avail, then one goes and dies before their time and they get all the plaudits.
See, death does have some plus-points.
For starters, these young perishers would remain completely anonymous ’til they passed away too young and now, thanks to these cruel twists of fate, we have to write nice things about them, which we certainly wouldn’t have if they were healthy as can be. Musicians also take note.
And now, some youngish actor has passed away, tributes are flooding in from people who barely knew him.
Steven Spielberg said:
“Who? They’re dead? Right. They could’ve easily been the next Orson Welles. It was a guy right? Young? Put Brando or Jimmy Dean in instead. Will that do?”
And now, these young actors can float over us from the choir invisible, pleased that for the first time in their career, everyone is finally talking about them.
That’s all an actor ever wants. Thanks to a sudden passing, we all have to talk about them being a giant on-screen and how much potential they had.
Or make hugely tasteless jokes to make a broader point.

Whoever wrote this article clearly knows nothing about what he/she is talking about. Andy Whitfield was an incredible actor and a great person. He is a talent that will surely be missed. And not because we have to say nice things about him., but because he truly was an amazing actor.

You are a cruel human being. Regardless of your opinions, acting aside…Andy was someone’s son, brother, husband and father. By all account a lovely man and yes a promising actor. Whatever he was I’m almost certain he was a better man than you.
