The police must throw a happy little party when they hear that Snoop Dogg is coming to town, because chances are they'll get to arrest him at some point – just like how Swedish police officers got to arrest Snoop Dogg on a drugs bust earlier today.
Details are a little vague at the moment, but it seems as if Snoop Dogg and a young lady were arrested for suspected narcotics use when a car they were travelling in was stopped in Stockholm last night. Snoop and his friend were detained for four hours by Swedish police overnight and 'body samples' were taken and sent away for testing. It's thought that the Swedish police determined that Snoop Dogg was under the influence of drugs by looking at his eyes and watching how he moved, although an equally good plan would have probably been to just listen to any Snoop Dogg song ever recorded, basically putting two and two together and arresting Snoop Dogg on the off-chance anyway.
For all his laconic charm and ice-cool demeanour, Snoop Dogg can actually be quite a competitive customer. For example, when Busta Rhymes seemed to be creeping ahead of Snoop in the 'rappers who get in a lot of pointless trouble' stakes by being thrown off his own movie set by the NYPD this weekend, Snoop Dogg responded almost immediately by getting arrested for suspected drug use in Stockholm, as Reuters reports:
Stockholm police arrested rap star Snoop Dogg and a woman in her early 20s early on Monday for suspected narcotics use, a police official said. Snoop Dogg, 35, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was detained at 1:25 a.m. and released nearly four hours later, duty sergeant Mats Brannlund of Ostermalm police said. "He was arrested for use of narcotics. It's illegal in Sweden to use them, even to have it in your system," he said. "You can see that a person indicates that he has used narcotics in looking at his eyes or his movements. (Police) suspected that he had taken drugs."
This Swedish drugs bust is just the latest in a long line of arrests for Snoop Dogg – the only rapper we know who has been banned from the UK for starting a mini-riot in Heathrow airport. Other Snoop Dogg exploits include trying to take a professional beating stick onto a plane, being stopped by police with guns and marijuana in his car and being stopped by police with guns, cocaine and marijuana in his car. Oh, and saying "motherfucker" at teatime once.
But getting arrested for a drugs offence in Sweden is possibly the most dangerous move that Snoop Dogg could have made. This is the country with security so hardcore that they don't even feel it when Axl Rose bites them on the leg, after all. If Snoop Dogg is found guilty of narcotic use, he can really expect Sweden to throw the book at him, and force him to face the full power of fearsome Swedish law. That's right – if the laboratory tests come back positive, Snoop Dogg will have to pay a fine of anything up to the equivalent of $280.
Yeah! Take that, millionaire hip-hop star!
