Everyone has childhood memories of Monopoly. Those memories usually involve hours of boredom at an Aunty’s house, punctuated by sporadic outbreaks of ferocious rage by someone who doesn’t want to pay rent.
But you can never say Monopoly doesn’t move with the times. There’s been a bit of a rejiggle to make it more current. Some of the changes are bit crap – like replacing the top hat with things like skateboards and hamburgers – but they have made one startling update: Monopoly Live.
It’s Monopoly on the internet. Here’s how it works: you spend your money on property and houses around London. And then the clever part – 18 real-life taxis are driving around London right now fitted with special Monopoly GPS. If someone else’s taxi stops where you have property, they give you money.
Every time you make £1 million on Monopoly Live, you’re entered in a prize draw. The prize is a year’s rent or mortgage payments.
Play Monopoly Live now. It’s just like normal Monopoly, but your weird cousin won’t get angry and try to put the dice up his bottom.
