Most online platform games are rubbish – you know this as well as we do – but that's only because they're lacking the charm, imagination and downright cuteness of Doodle, today's game.

It won't take a genius to realise that in Doodle you play a doodle – more specifically a doodle of a man armed with a mighty sword running around a world of shabbily-finished levels on a sheet of A4 lined paper. So far so gimmicky, but Doodle's slapdash charm and weirdly northern-sounding baddies are sure to win you over. That is unless you don't keep accidentally pressing the wrong key for jump only to repeatedly send Doodle to an early grave like we did. But even though our worse-than-bad hand/ eye coordination means that we suck at it, we could happily play Doodle for hours.
