SLACKERJACK – Counter-Force
A proclamation; 2007 is going to be the year of the sniper rifle. Not in a terrifying, afraid to walk the streets way, but in a blasting baddies away with a sniper rifle in Counter-Force way.
Counter-Force came to us along with the lofty label of Best First-Person Flash Shooter EVER! Is it right? Well, it's not far off. Counter-Force is superficially very simple – some baddies run around a screen and you have a minute to shoot as many of them dead as you can – but the level of detail and smoothness of gameplay that Counter-Force offers is nothing short of sublime. If the baddies get close you can take them out with a pistol, but as they run off into the distance, a quick tap of the space bar brings up a sniper rifle for more accurate shooting. Add to this crisp smooth graphics and satisfying gunshot noises and you can't deny that Counter-Force is a very special little game. And if you can find a better way of destroying the back-to-work blues than Counter-Force that doesn't actually involve shooting real people in the chest, be sure to let us know.
