We don't know about you, but we never fail to be surprised by the thundering stupidity of people. Especially when they start taking fashion tips from a baby that isn't even three sodding weeks old yet.
After making her much-heralded first appearance on the covers of a bunch of magazines – and everywhere on the internet – Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt has sparked a genuine fashion trend; the makers of the T-shirt that she was wearing in the cover-photo have apparently been swamped with orders from all kinds of prodigiously thick people who imagine that passers-by might mistake them for Angelina Jolie just because the tiny screaming brat they're pushing around is wearing a scrap of pink cloth.
Despite the flood of celebrity babies that have been born lately, without a doubt the most publicity hungry famous birth has been that of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Little Shiloh Nouvel was brought into the world via Namibia amid a swirl of popping flashlights, pre-birth picture deals and global intrigue as to just how damn pretty the baby was going to be.
And Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt played it especially well – donating loads of cash to Namibian hospitals, putting together a film about Shiloh Nouvel (and bits of Namibia) and all but registering the new baby as a financial commodity. Because of this, even the clothes that baby Shiloh Nouvel wore on the cover of People and Hello magazine are hot property.
Despite the magazine photo looking a bit weird – Brad Pitt looks slightly confused and repulsed by the baby while Angelina ignores her completely – the $42 'Pots & Pans Band' T-shirt that Shiloh wears has become the latest must-have for babies and adults with concave chests and underdeveloped arms – the design has been flying off the shelves, according to the boutique in Dever who sent the T-shirt to Brad and Angelina:
"Brad and Angelina are definitely our customers. The new generation of young, hip parents are looking for outfits they would wear themselves. It just hit me how big a deal this is."
So now that Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt is a bona fide fashion icon, maybe baby chic will be the next big trends for adults. And the sooner we see people walking around crying uncontrollably with food around their faces and underwear full of shit the better, frankly.
