Rosie O’Donnell’s Price Is Right Bid Goes Tits Up

Digg this!

Rosie O’Donnell Price Is Right Host Bob BarkerAnyone hoping to see a militant rampaging lesbian angrily hosting a gameshow that celebrates grotesque materialism, prepare yourself for a huge disappointment – Rosie O'Donnell doesn't think she'll get to host The Price Is Right any more.

After a few days of intense speculation about Rosie O'Donnell officially replacing Bob Barker as the next host of The Price Is Right, Rosie O'Donnell looks like she's starting to concede defeat. Not only does Rosie not want to move to Hollywood to record the show, but she's hinted that CBS bigwigs aren't that keen on hiring her – and even dotty old Bob Barker has withdrawn his support for Rosie O'Donnell. It's thought that CBS is now looking for a less polarising personality to host The Price Is Right, and will approach Dr Harold Shipman just as soon as its worked out who his agents are.

It looks like the dream is at an end, folks. After genial old Bob Barker left The Price Is Right and apparently decided that Rosie O'Donnell would make a perfect replacement, we were hardly able to contain our excitement at the prospect of seeing Rosie O'Donnell – fresh from angering Donald Trump and furiously bickering with the world's most annoying idiot on The View, clenching for all she's worth as she tries to interview a greedy redneck Price Is Right contestant without blurting out 45 minutes of fiery anti-war sentiment.

Just the other day Rosie O'Donnell herself was declaring how much she wanted to host The Price Is Right, but between then and now something has gone sour. MSNBC reports:

“I don’t know if it’s going to work out,” she posted on her blog Rosie.com. “I love that show. I watched that show the entire 35 years that Bob Barker has hosted that show. I used to watch it with my nana. She loved it."

That's not all – Bob Barker has decided to publicly state that he didn't mean that Rosie O'Donnell should get the Price is Right job when he said Rosie O'Donnell should get the Price Is Right job, saying:

"I have not been asked for my opinion, nor have I expressed one. I think there are several candidates who could do the show, and Rosie is certainly one of them."

None of which leaves us very hopeful that we'll see Rosie O'Donnell presenting a two-dimensionally gaudy lightweight gameshow for the elderly and unemployed any time soon. So it's just as well that Rosie has other things to keep her occupied, like her tour with Cyndi Lauper, her forthcoming memoirs and giving two-word lower-case answers to weirdos who want to kill themselves on her blog.

As for us, we'll get over it. In a few more days there's bound to be an announcement that some other desperately unsuitable person will be getting a job on a gameshow we've never seen and have no intention of ever watching, and we'll just carry on being slightly rude about that instead. It's the way of the universe.
