Pussycat Dolls Look For Ropey-Looking New Member On TV

Ladies! Are you a little bit too old to be a successful popstar yet feel no shame at dressing up in your teenage daughter's clothes and acting like a drunk divorcee in a nightclub at 2:30am? The Pussycat Dolls might just have an opening for you!
Not content with having around 3,000 members already, The Pussycat Dolls are looking for a new member to join their ranks of 'OK-looking until you get quite close' bendy-limbed middle-aged women. And since it's the year 2006, The Pussycat Dolls are going to do this with that old chestnut - the reality TV show. The Search For The Next Pussycat Doll will allow a member of the public to join The Pussycat Dolls at the height of their powers. Because they're at the height of their powers, OK? This isn't just a cynical last-gasp attempt to claw at the last grains of fame before The Pussycat Dolls disappear forever, oh no.
The story of The Pussycat Dolls is a modern day fairytale. A fairytale about six average, if a bit slaggy-looking, women teaming up to do some sexy dancing in Las Vegas, only to be thrust into genuine fame by releasing an album which has sold close to five million records. Key to the success of The Pussycat Dolls was the single Don't Cha, written by the singer from Gnarls Barkley and containing the phenomenally confusing chorus "Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me," which had the majority of Earth's men scratching their heads and replying "No, because you aren't all that hot. I wish my girlfriend was hot like Shakira." And all this without Carmen Electra, who left the group to split up with Dave Navarro and field questions about whether or not she pushed uncooked pasta up Dennis Rodman's bum during sex.
But now The Pussycat Dolls have cracked the music industry - the follow-up singles about bleeping and buttons helped - they're looking to become stars of TV, too. The CW network in America has announced a show called The Search For The Next Pussycat Doll; a Pop Idol-style show where, instead of finding talented young singers, The Pussycat Dolls and a panel of experts will sift through a crowd of slightly older, slightly ropey women who think that dancing around like a slut is an attractive way to spend their lives. Or is it? Not according to CW's president of entertainment, Dawn Ostroff, who says:
"At its core, this show goes beyond just finding a new Pussycat Doll; it's about female empowerment, self-discovery and personal transformation."
Female empowerment through dressing up in weeny clothes and doing a sexy dance for the men that pay you. That's the kind of female empowerment that there should be more of. The whole Pussycat Dolls TV show is the brainchild of McG, who directed the Charlie's Angels movies. He says:
"I'm most interested in the personal drama, about the [candidates] leaving their relationships or trust issues with their parents. It's all about the real-life stuff that lies within."
We'd imagine that the ability to look good dancing in tight clothes will figure higher up the Pussycat Dolls wishlist than actual singing ability, since all the singing's done by that one woman, and she looks as if she'd be a bit handy in a fight if anyone tried to take her place.

Stuart Heritage’s story on the Pussycat Dolls’ reality show was pretty hilarious.
If Stuart is reading this, I’ve got one question. How did you end up with a job where you get to write about this? I’m a journalism student and absolutely bored with the news(sounds great, I know). I have way too much entertainment knowledge stored in my head and need to put it to good use. Any advice?

Ha Ha Ha!!! I laugh so much when I read your post! I TOTALLY AGREE with you, in everything you say. It’s sad that nowadays, girls are just being ’sluty’ thinking that this way they’ll win men’s ‘respect’ or admiration. When will they wake up and see that THE POWER OF A WOMAN is NOT dressing like a @&%!!!! I’m a teenage girl and I’m preoccupied with my college and my carreer while the other girls are looking for a rich guy to buy them things. This is not power and neither wisdom. Your post is awesome!

Women need to wake up in today’s society! The Pussycat dolls show should be appalling to any women who want to be respected, and thinks of themselves as having a brain. I am a hard working 24 year old woman who graduated at the top of my class with a science and mathematics degree from a top university. MOST IMPORTANTLY I want to make a difference and contribute something to this world. I want my life to mean something. What are these disgusting women doing with their lives and what kind of a difference will they ever contribute to our society except reversing all of the hard work that women have fought for in the past. Those that speak about “women empowerment” are kidding themselves if they think that is how it works. Those women need to wake up and try using their brain as well as think about doing something worthwhile with their life. When you are on your death bed, will you be happy with what you accomplished with your life? Or will it all be a bunch of filth, dirt and worthless brain-dead nonsense. What a waist of a life. I’m sorry for all of those women, but there are millions of women who are doing something intelligent and positive with their lives - contribute something meaningful and leaving a mark on this world. Wake up women!
