If you found the season two of Prison Break too pointless to watch, you won't know who Lane Garrison is – Lane Garrison is the man who a) was Tweener in the show and b) has just been charged with manslaughter for getting drunk and crashing his car.
Lane Garrison was charged with manslaughter yesterday after he crashed his car into a tree, killing a 17-year-old and injuring two 15-year-old girls who invited him to a party when he met them in a supermarket in December. If found guilty, Lane Garrison faces over six years in jail. And if that happens Lane Garrison will no doubt be crossing his fingers that his cellmate turns out to be a slightly gay-seeming bald man with a taste for tattooing maps of stuff all over his body and arse.
If you ever want proof of how far Lost's stock has fallen, then just look at Lane Garrison. Back in the days when everyone liked Lost, it was impossible to imagine stars from other American TV high-concept drama shows doing monumentally stupid things in cars, because that was Lost territory. Whether it was a simple drink-driving arrest and subsequent four-hour jail sentence, getting caught driving without a license or seeing their house burn down before putting the charred remains in a car, it was all about Lost. But now nobody watches Lost any more, stars of other shows have been busy scoring themselves a piece of the action. Like Lane Garrison from Prison Break.
Only when Lane Garrison from Prison Break – not the tattooed one, not the women, the other one – goes drink-driving it doesn't end up with an impounded car or an amusing tirade about Jewish people, it ends up with two of the teenagers that Lane Garrison had been buying alcohol for ending up injured and the other one dead, and leaves Lane Garrison facing more than six years in prison. Reuters reports:
Prosecutors say Garrison had a blood-alcohol level nearly twice California's legal limit when he crashed his sport utility vehicle into a tree in Beverly Hills, killing 17-year-old Vahagn Setian and injuring two 15-year-old girls. Garrison's defense attorney has said that Setian was a popular student at Beverly Hills High School who, along with the girls, recognized the actor at a supermarket that night and invited him to a party. Garrison and the teens were headed to the party when the accident occurred… Defense lawyer Harland Braun has also said that Garrison does not remember the accident and only had one drink that night.
All in all Lane Garrison – who apparently used to live with Jessica Simpson and her family – has been charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated – basically the same charge that Brandy might be up for but drunker – driving under the influence causing injury to multiple victims, driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or above, and furnishing alcohol to a minor. It's expected that if Lane Garrison does go to prison for drunkenly killing a boy, he'll follow the basic plot of Prison Break – although his sentence will be much-reported by the media, when he inevitably breaks out after a year nobody will really be very interested and watch something else.
