It's the 30th anniversary of The Prince's Trust, and to mark it Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince Charles all said a bunch of bland stuff about TV to Ant & Dec.
What kind of bland remarks did Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince Charles make? Well, they quite like Friends, Pop Idol and all manner of other ultra-populist shows that they probably haven't ever heard of but were told to like by a team of royal advisors who want to make them seem a bit more 'everyman' and a bit less 'obscenely privileged, swan-eating, out-of-touch idiots'.
There's nothing worse than when people try and appear as if they are down with the kids. Especially when they're probably going to be the King of England one day. Prince William is notorious for this – there was a period of time in the mid-to-late nineties where Prince William would say "sorted" to every teenager he ever met, possibly because he heard some youths say it once in a play. But at least all that foolish behaviour has ended now, right?
Nuh-uh! Prince William is still riding the "I'm just a normal dude" train, and this time he's brought his brother and his Dad along for the ride, too. To mark the 30th anniversary of The Prince's Trust, the three Princes faced an interview with interchangeable Geordie midgets Ant & Dec, who decided to just ask them a load of questions about what kind of telly they like.
Now, obviously Prince William and Prince Harry couldn't say that they don't really watch TV as they're too busy dressing up as Nazis, riding around on poor people's backs for fun and discussing polo with Jemima Himply-Bumplesworth of the Blandford Himply-Bumplesworths, so they just had what appears to be a pretend argument about a few TV shows that someone told them were quite popular five years ago. This Is London reports:
"We like the same sort of things on TV, although
there is usually an argument over the remote at home – about who
watches what. That usually goes on for quite a while." Harry added: "Friends is always a safe bet." Pop Idol presenter Ant McPartlin then
asked: "So, you mentioned you watched X Factor, did you watch Pop Idol
as well?".Harry, pointing to William, said: "He won't admit to it but we did both watch it – especially the American Pop Idol."
The full interview with Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince Charles will be shown on ITV tomorrow night. But it clashes with Eurovision and since you're all smart enough to know that Eurovision is better, you can recreate the interview with the princes by getting a couple of schoolboys from Gateshead to ask three confused retired bombardiers some questions about The Boobahs for half an hour.
