Pitt & Jolie To Produce Humanitarian A-Team TV Show
Then buzz it up

When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announce that they're producing a TV show, you know it'll be about either one of two things - some bone-dry humanitarian aid crisis or a couple of beautiful millionaires rolling around in a roomful of money.
And that's why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly making their joint production debut with an HBO series focusing on a gang of humanitarian aid workers travelling to dangerous hotspots and helping those less fortunate, kind of like The A-Team, only it'll obviously feature more scenes of teary-eyed UN workers nobly staring off into the middle distance in dusty locations questioning God's cruelty. You might be wondering what sort of audience there'll be for such an earnest, socially aware drama - even one produced by two megastars like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - but don't forget that their show will be broadcast on HBO, so it'll probably have some nipples in it. And who doesn't love looking at nipples?
Angelina Jolie has undoubtedly changed Brad Pitt for the better. Before they met, Brad Pitt was happy to churn out films like Troy and Ocean's Twelve - big-budget movies with all the social relevance of In The Night Garden. But since Brad Pitt shacked up with Angelina Jolie, she's opened his eyes to the greater problems in the world, resulting in him only making films that offer deeply profound global statements like Babel and Ocean's Thirteen. If it wasn't for Angelina Jolie then Brad Pitt probably wouldn't have helped out in New Orleans or jaunted round the world adopting all the poor babies he sees or thrown a load of money at Namibia. And, thanks to Angelina Jolie, the only way that Brad Pitt would make Mission: Impossible IV is if the enemy was climate change, because that's the real impossible mission we all face.
So Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are a good team, and now it's time for them to produce a TV show educating the world about how much more educated they are on important issues than anyone else is. According to the Los Angeles Times, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are going to produce a new TV drama for HBO - one that's basically going to be a remake of Sex And The City but with beleaguered UN humanitarian workers instead of sexually-liberated New Yorkers, and where everyone catches AIDS the moment they have sex with anyone. Or something:
If anyone could bring some glamour to the glamourless life of humanitarian aid workers, it might be Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The A-list couple are making their first joint producing effort with an HBO series about aid workers, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The trade publication reported that the as-yet-untitled drama will follow the lives of aid workers as they travel to hazardous areas and help the less fortunate, as well as the political challenges faced by international aid organizations.
However, don't think that you'll be hearing anybody tell you "I can't come out tonight, I'm going to stay in and watch that TV show about the political challenges faced by international aid organisations" any time soon because nobody really likes seeing movie stars crowing about how much more they know about serious global issues than anyone else. For instance, Angelina Jolie's A Mighty Heart - produced by Brad Pitt - didn't managed to recoup its $16 million budget in cinemas, so why would people want to watch an equally serious-minded drama that lasts 20 times longer and is spread out over a number of weeks?
But still, you have to applaud Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for trying. And don't forget that producing a serious global drama like this will take a lot of work, and frankly we'd approve of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie producing a TV drama show about graphic child abuse if it lessened the chance of them making Mr & Mrs Smith 2 by even a fraction of a percent.
