Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have been at the centre of one of the most enduring stories of the summer – the story of the old supermodel who dumped her husband after he banged a girl from a toy shop a bunch of times.
And now that story has an epilogue, sort of. Peter Cook and Christie Brinkley are reported to be talking to each other again "for the kids." Presumably that's the kids that Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have together, and not the kids that Peter Cook sneaks around having sex with while his wife stays indoors baking cookies and whistling Uptown Girl to herself with a nostalgic tear in her eye.
Occasionally a piece of news comes along that puts a spring in the step of any man who's cheating on one of the world's most beautiful women with some young girl he found working in a shop, and this is one of them – Peter Cook, the husband who recently split up with supermodel Christie Brinkley after discovering that he'd been spraying it about with teenager Diana Bianchi, is back talking to Christie Brinkley again.
You'll remember that after Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook split up, there was a period of silence before all hell broke loose, what with the cause of the split revealed to be Cook's relationship with Bianchi, and then Diana Bianchi's televised yammering. All of this looked certain to signal the end of the Brinkley/ Cook marriage, but Peter Cook's implausible last-ditch attempt at reconciliation – a desperate newspaper front page begging for forgiveness – seems to have done the trick.
According to reports Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook are starting the slow process of reconcilement. Or are they? Christie Brinkley's slave Elliott Mintz says:
"As far as Christie is concerned, she is still not making any statements about what is taking place between the two of them."
Lucky for us, Peter Cook's loudmouth lawyer Norman Sheresky has no such reservations, and told the New York Daily News exactly what's going on in insane detail:
"It's a strained relationship. I think they mostly talk about their kids and stay away from other subjects. He's not barred from the house – and they do talk. But they are talking about their kids. Peter would love to reconcile. But I can't get inside her head. Right now, I think they are acting like concerned parents."
Putting all talk of splits and reconciliations aside, if Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook are really such concerned parents, why the hell did they decide to name their daughter Sailor? Sailor, for Christ's sake!
