Ok…first of all their is nothing in those quotes that suggests Pete is making excuses for his poor vocal performance.

Secondly why did Pete do a duet with f**king Elton John of all people. It’s common knowledge that Pete isn’t the best singer at the best of times he hardly complements Elton Johns style. Someone made a booboo in the ‘duet choosing department’ me thinks!

P.S. How dare you compare Johnny Borrell to Pete Doherty! Granted that Johnny is a shitstain. Everything else you excreted is just bollox!

Pete doherty, doesn’t write terrible songs, in fact the babyshambles album got better and better every listen in my opinion. I think he is great, i would love to have a half hour chat to him and see how his mind works. It is a shame that he takes these drugs because, that is all alot of the press and the other hounds of people out there want to see. They are waiting for some sort of car crash to happen, then they will have their headline. I don’t think Pete Doherty will be forgotten in a hurry and I’m sure people will talk about him in years to come, whether you like it or not Pete Doherty is here to stay.

Pete Doherty’s not a poet. Keats is a poet, Edgar Allen poe is a poet, Goethe was a fucking poet. Pete Doherty’s a song writer. And not a very good one at that. Why not try listening, and i mean really listening, to some geniunely brutal and achingly sore songwriting. In fact why not try listening to something that actually sounds fresh and contemporary. Have you any idea what goes on outide of the pages of NME. I mean honestly it’s just bad jounalism. The writing is awfull: the reviews are whimsical and the music itself is described in poorly realised metaphor. There isnt really anything about music in the magazine. The Wire is one of those that has it at least half right. It offers subjective views on genuinely interesting music. The magazine’s tagline reads “adventures in modern music”. Thats what music should be. An adventure. Something you discover by accident, something visceral and peculiar. Thats where the beauty lies surely.
