100000It’s the eternal question - what would you do if money was no object? Buy a house in every country in the world? Swank around in a fancy, custom-made car? Watch a bunch of crotchety old men judder around a stage playing 40 year-old songs whilst sitting next to Mr Freeze?

That last one could be a reality to some lucky - or possibly just a bit rich and dim - people this Sunday. People with a spare $100,000 have the opportunity to watch the opening concert by The Rolling Stones in the same luxury box as Arnold Schwarzenegger.

hecklerspray’s fondness for Arnold Schwarzenegger (DVDs) is well known. Not
content with being the most ludicrous actor on the planet, he’s now the
most ludicrous Governor. If he’s not offending vast sections of the
state he’s in charge of by calling them "girlie men", he’s running
round his house setting fire to his childrens’ clothes. Or, best of
all, planning to explode the moon so that women don’t get PMT.

And on November 8th, Schwarzenegger faces a ’special’ election that
will help decide, um, rules. And things. But because it’s an American
election, there needs to be a massive round of enormous fund-raising
first. And when you’re one of the world’s most recognised celebrities,
what better way to raise money than by selling personal experiences
with yourself
?

For $10,000, you can help Arnie’s campaign fund by receiving an
invite to a private reception hosted by the Schwarzeneggers. And for
the full $100,000, you can watch The Rolling Stones start their world
tour in Boston sitting in the same luxury box as Arnold.

It seems like a strange way to raise money for a Republican
campaign. A Bigger Bang, the forthcoming album by The Rolling Stones -
said to be their best in 20 years - features the song Sweet Neo Con, a
stinging broadside against the Republican government. The song contains
the lines "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite/You
call yourself a patriot, well I think you’re full of shit".

Although the band have had no role in Schwarzenegger’s fundraiser,
it’ll be interesting to see the reaction a song like Sweet Neo Con gets
from the red corner of the arena.
