Joyful news, readers: Stephen Malkmus will release his third album, called Face The Truth, on May 24.
The follow-up to the acclaimed Pig Lib could be an interesting ride for long-term fans. The Malkmeister indicated a return to his lo-fi days of yore, telling Rolling Stone: "My voice is submerged into the music a bit, and it sounds more like an instrument."
Recorded at his house, the record was crafted in a "loose, not very fussy" way, according to Malkmus. We assume Nigel Godrich wasn’t involved.
One track called "No More Shoes", a prospective single, was said to be "more rocking than a late-period Sonic Youth song". Malkmus: we salute you.
Hecklerspray can’t wait.
