Padma Lakshmi, sexpot host of Bravo’s Top Chef, ?injects a little class into December’s Playboy, answering some revealing questions and posing for some tease-y photos. Shockingly forthright in her 20 Questions interview,?she?responds candidly to questions about sex, what she looks for in men, and?eating bulls’ balls. Though her photos are?disappointingly demure … she’s wearing?old school granny panties …?since otherwise you only get to see her fully dressed,?I suppose lace granny panties will do.
Beyond being stunningly beautiful, 42-year old Padma is actually a pretty interesting person. She began her career as a model, published a cookbook, co-starred in the horrible movie Glitter alongside?Mariah Carey, married fatwa-carrying author Salman Rushdie, began hosting Top Chef, divorced,?published another cookbook, and had a baby. And after all that, she still looks great in her underwear.
Currently in it’s tenth season, Top Chef is an Emmy-winning show and Padma is no small part of that. It’s a good watch even if you?aren’t interested in?fine cuisine, and not just because of Padma’s?pretty face and gigantic cleavage. She actually knows her shit. She tells Playboy:
?If I taste a dish, I can usually replicate the ingredients. And if I kissed you, I could probably tell what you had for lunch.?
Impressive, alluring, and she’s not nearly as chubby as Nigella. Romantically, Padma compares herself to a truck driver. While that’s not to say?she’s soliciting hand jobs at truck stop bathrooms, she not a stereotypical high-maintenance chick.
?I'm like a truck driver trapped in this body. I don't want to be your best friend. I don't expect you to give me a birthday card or send me flowers. I don't need fancy trips.?
Top Chef is not a typical cooking show, and Padma is in a completely separate league when it comes to food show hosts. While she’s obviously knowledgable about and enjoys food, she’s too serious and model-y to be the frontwoman of a standard cooking show … but that’s apparently not a path that interests her anyway.
“If you saw me chop an onion, you would be highly unimpressed.”
That said, Padma wouldn’t even give that creepy little shrew Giada DiLaurentiis a backwards glance. According to Padma:
“TV food personalities aren’t interesting to me. Bobby Flay, I’m sure, is a great guy, but I don’t watch Iron Chef. I don’t even watch Top Chef, to be honest.”
After hosting Top Chef for the past nine seasons, she has a good attitude about the inevitable weight gain that accompanies each season.
?I usually gain between 10 and 15 pounds over six weeks each season. … [but when] the timer goes off and the food is ready, I'm really excited to eat.”
It’s strangely pleasant to hear a model talk about gaining weight. The Playboy interview only gets annoying when Padma begins explaining why looks don’t matter. There’s very little more tedious than listening to someone who became rich and famous as a result of their looks dismiss appearances as trivial.?She also says ?Sometimes I think I'm one of the last women with real boobs.? Must be rough, Padma. Hopefully you can tough it out.
