Oscars Betting Odds: The Departed To Win Best Picture?
Then buzz it up

So this is it - after spending roughly ten thousand years looking at the various runners of riders, here's the last word about the 2007 Oscars you'll hear from us; at least until Monday when we'll be all like "Dude, Ellen DeGeneres is crap."
And we're ending our epic voyage of Oscars betting odds with the biggest bang we can - we're going to be looking at the two favourite films to grab the Best Picture Oscar. Surprising, for a change, neither of these films are about a) a singer, b) a war, c) a disabled man coming to terms with his surroundings, d) the racial tensions that arise from a living in a built-up multi-ethnic sprawl or e) Hobbits. So what are they? And why aren't you betting on them already? There's money to be made here, kids.
So here are the Oscars betting odds for Best Picture - for Little Miss Sunshine and The Departed - with betting odds from Paddy Power…
Little Miss Sunshine - Thanks to it not being packed full of manic wrist-slitting despair, Little Miss Sunshine sticks out like a sore thumb in the Best Picture Oscar nominees. And it's doing a pretty good job of making the most of it, too - Little Miss Sunshine is slowly winning hearts, and awards, wherever it goes. If Little Miss Sunshine does win the Best Picture Oscar on Sunday, it'll be the first comedy to do so since Forrest Gump won in 1994 and the first non-crap comedy since Annie Hall in 1977. Ever so slowly, Little Miss Sunshine's Best Film Oscar betting odds have been shortening since the nominations were announced, and there's a very real chance that it could actually win. Not a bad film about a fat girl dancing. Current Best Picture Oscars betting odds - 2/1
The Departed - The Departed? Really? Looking at the full list, it's no wonder why the Best Picture Oscar is so up in the air this year - none of the shortlisted films are especially amazing. In terms of box office pulling power, The Departed is the best film of the nominees, and in terms of finally shutting Martin Scorsese up about never winning an Oscar, it's probably the best-deserved. But is The Departed the best film of the year? It might be - it zips along at a nice enough pace and manages to be funny, dark, thrilling and clever at the same time - but it's still a remake of a Hong Kong film. And if that's not bad enough, if The Departed wins Best Film on Sunday it'll officially become the best-ever Martin Scorsese film. Are people willing to hurt the reputation of Raging Bull like that? We can't see this one happening - Current Best Film Oscars betting odds - 11/10
Tomorrow - Razzies Worst Film betting odds. But if that’s too long to wait - or you feel like making more money than you know what to do with - head right over to the Paddy Power Oscars betting odds page to see the latest, and best, betting odds.
