Our look at the betting odds of this years Oscar nominees continues today with the conclusion of the Best Supporting Actor nominees – one of this year’s most hotly-contested categories.
Yesterday we looked at the betting odds of Oscar hopefuls William Hurt, Jake Gyllenhaal and Matt Dillon. All great, we’re sure, but all outsiders. This year, the Best Supporting Actor Oscar looks like it’ll be a two-horse race. Today we’ll be looking at both of those horses, and remember that horses are only good for betting on. Or eating, if you’re French. Not that we’re suggesting that you try and eat George Clooney or anything. That would be wrong.
So here are the Best Supporting Actor Oscar betting odds for Paul Giamatti and George Clooney, with help from SportingOdds.com…
Paul Giamatti – Paul Giamatti played Joe Gould in Cinderella Man. Cinderella Man was a good little film – any Russell Crowe film that doesn’t make us want to run Russell over with an industrial lawnmower must have something going for it – but Paul Giamatti absolutely stole the show as fast-talking manager Joe Gould. If it was down to us – and one day it will… one day – we’d give Paul Giamatti the Best Supporting Actor Oscar instantly. If he was in Cinderella Man for a millisecond, he’d still deserve the Oscar. But what do we know? Current Best Supporting Actor Oscar betting odds – 3/5
George Clooney – George Clooney played Bob Barnes in Syriana. We know why George Clooney is up for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Syriana. As far as we’re able to tell, he got a bit fat and grew a beard. The transformation! We’ve also seen the trailer for Syriana, so we know that fat bearded Clooney is also able to walk past an exploding car without flinching, and back away from some curtains in a sinister way. Give the man a sodding Oscar, would you? Current Best Supporting Actor Oscar odds – 3/1
That’s all for this week – next week we’ll be taking a look at the
