Yesterday we started to look at the betting odds for the Best Director Oscar nominees. But the group of directors we inspected yesterday may as well stay at home and watch the Oscars on their sofas in their pants, crying and eating ice cream.

Because - as close as the Best Director Oscar race is, there are only two directors with a real shout of taking the little man home and then using it as an excuse to make drearily self-important films that go on for too long for the rest of their measly careers. You’d better make sure you place a juicy great bet on the outcome of this category - without the prospect of winning money from the Oscars, you’ll just be faced with Jon Stewart flailing around trying to be sarcastic and not realising people just want to hear funny songs about Jack Nicholson.

So here are the Best Director Oscar betting odds for George Clooney and Ang Lee, with help from SportingOdds.com

George Clooney - George Clooney directed Goodnight, And Good Luck.
George Clooney is having a good year; by getting fat and growing a
beard he snared a Best Supporting Actor nomination. And by getting a
black and white camera and indirectly saying what a bunch of numbnuts
Republicans are, he’s also snared a Best Director nomination. You see,
George Clooney isn’t just a man who stars in Asian booze adverts on the
sly, he’s also a man of integrity who speaks his mind and gets rewarded
for it. Let’s see if George Clooney gets a Best Director Oscar
nomination for his next film - Mr Bozo And The Spooky Goose. Current
Best Director Oscar betting odds - 7/1

Ang Lee - Ang Lee directed Brokeback Mountain. Ang Lee has lit a
fire underneath Hollywood by making a very long love story about - gasp
- two boys. One of whom grows a slightly ill-advised moustache halfway
through. To be fair, Brokeback Mountain does look great, but you could
stick Uwe Boll and a legion of goblins in the same setting, and even
he’d be able to make a gorgeous-looking film. Whatever you may think,
Ang Lee and Brokeback Mountain seem pretty much unstoppable this year,
as the betting odds attest. Current Best Director Oscar betting odds -
1/7

That’s all for this week - next week we’ll be taking a look at the
betting odds for the Best Actress Oscar nominees. But in the meantime,
head over to the Specials section of SportingOdds.com to see the full
list of Oscars betting odds in all categories. And don’t forget to
place a bet while you’re there. It’s easy and fun and SportingOdds.com
will match your first bet when you open an account with them
. Good luck!
