The celebrity blog is perhaps the best invention in all of creation. Ostensibly a way to communicate with fans, the celebrity blog usually just ends up either being dreary or proving what a mental old nutjob the celebrity actually is.

Rosie O'Donnell's blog is placed firmly in the latter section, since it allows Rosie O'Donnell to carp on about whatever vague crap float into her mind like it was the single most important and deep piece of information your tiny brain will ever have the joy to process, without the first thought for grammar or punctuation. However, it looks like Rosie O'Donnell's blogging days might be at an end, since Barbara Walters – Rosie's new boss on The View – doesn't really like it very much.

We're guessing here, but we'd imagine that the reason why most celebrities start blogging is to provide direct communication to their fans that neither their publicists or the press can censor or mangle, but in reality they tend to just show what a crazed old batshit weirdo the celebrity becomes when left to their own devices. For instance, give Britney Spears a computer and half an hour and she'll either write a loopy poem about her bad marriage or tell everyone how much she likes tigers, while magician Paul Daniels blogs mainly so he can register his disgust about Dr Doolittle being played by a black girl in Dr Doolittle 3. Queen of the celebrity blog, however, is Rosie O'Donnell.

For those of you who haven't stumbled across the supreme genius of Rosie O'Donnell's blog, then these are the reasons why Rosie O'Donnell's blog rocks so hard; a) Rosie O'Donnell updates it regularly and b) Rosie O'Donnell makes no sense whatsoever. To show you what we mean, here's an example taken at random:

However, someone who doesn't appreciate Rosie O'Donnell's blogging is Barbara Walters. You see, while Rosie O'Donnell is probably most famous for playing Betty Rubble in the 1994 Flintstones movie, she's now scored herself a job on The View – kind of like Loose Women for Americans – and her boss Barbara Walters now gets to call the shots, as People reports:

"I didn't like the blog," Walters tells Newsweek of a post in which O'Donnell complained about a promotional skit for the new season. "I saw the new view promos," O'Donnell wrote on her Web site. "Found myself/ in the position/ I loathe the most/ powerless." But Walters is hoping O'Donnell will be a team player. "I'm counting on Rosie's intelligence and sensitivity and humor," she tells Newsweek. "This is, after all, an entertainment show. It is based on people who like each other and are having a good time, not on people who are arguing and unhappy."

Frankly we're stunned. Who'll give us our regular nuggets of loopy celebrity insight now? What's that? Pamela Anderson? Oh, OK.
