However, they had a good innings; Nicole Richie and Adam Goldstein – or DJ AM – were engaged for nine months – that’s 25 times longer than Kimberley Stewart managed.
Since their friendship oddly dissolved earlier in the year, Paris
Hilton has gained far more headlines than Nicole Richie (DVDs). It was Paris Hilton who had topless images from her phone stolen, it was Paris Hilton who denied having sex with Tom Sizemore, and it was Paris Hilton at the party where Christian Slater fell off the roof.
But Nicole Richie always had one thing better than Paris. Where Paris had broken off her engagement with Paris Latsis, Nicole Richie and DJ AM were still going strong. Solid as a rock, in fact.
Not any more. Now Nicole Richie has broken off her engagement, too –
although nobody seems sure why. All that’s been given is a statement
prepared by Nicole Richie representative Cindy Guagenti:
"They have decided to break off [the] engagement. The decision is mutual."
Mutual, maybe, but a little sudden. E! Online reports that:
recently as Monday, Star magazine’s Website had the couple moving into
a three-bedroom, "trendy West Hollywood" condo with "plenty of room for
them to grow into it as a family."
Now she’s split up with DJ AM, at least Nicole Richie will have more time to concentrate fully on the new E!-broadcast series of The Simple Life
– ironically subtitled Till Death Do Us Part – where she’ll have to be
on top form for all the hilarious tablecloth-pulling and plate-dropping hi-jinx
that she’ll probably get up to all through the series, prompting the hilariously raised-eyebrow/violin-noise combo that The Simple Life is so fond of.
Also, a little bit of self-pitying comfort eating probably wouldn’t go amiss either, Nicole.
