New X-Files Movie Script Written And Everything, Says Him Out Of X-Files

Stop anybody on the street and ask them what one thing they'd like most in the world, and rather than saying "happiness" or "food" or "my mum to come back to life and kiss me on the face" they'll all probably say "another X-Files film, please."
Because, well, who wouldn't want to see a sequel to X-Files: The Movie? Who wouldn't want to see the completely unnecessary sequel to a film that was released when the TV series it was based on was already on the wane? Who wouldn't want to see a smarmy man running around shouting "Look! Aliens and stuff" at a disinterested ginger woman before looking into the middle-distance in a way that's supposed to look deep and mysterious? You wouldn't? Well tough shit, because a sequel to the X-Files movie is on the way, and the script's been written for it and everything. David Duchovny said so himself.
If there's one thing worse for an actor than leaving a major role, it's leaving a major role that dealt with aliens and ghosts and whatnot - because not only are you doomed to a future of geeks asking you about the internal biology of that shadow that killed people from episode 23, but you'll never be allowed to move on from the role professionally, either. Exhibit A is The X-Files, the inexplicably popular 1990s TV sci-fi show about all kinds of ridiculous mumbo jumbo, and its stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
Nothing that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have done in the wake of The X-Files has even touched the popularity of the show - not fighting people on aeroplanes or getting knocked up by wheel clampers or slagging off The X-Files to anyone who'll listen - so it was always going to be inevitable that an X-Files reunion of some sort would happen eventually; and it looks like now might be that time, as the Washington Post reports that a sequel to The X-Files movie is in the works:
Co-star David Duchovny indicated Saturday during the Television Critics Association press tour that the film, which has been the subject of speculation for the past few years, is one step closer to becoming a reality. "I'm supposed to see a script next week," Duchovny said at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, adding that creator Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the screenplay and that Carter is set to direct.
Talk about striking when the iron's cooled down and gone home. The original X-Files film came out in 1998, before terrorism and the internet and Paris Hilton - so long ago that we can't even really remember what it was about. Bees, we think. But, with such a long wait between films, this new X-Files sequel certainly has a lot to live up to. For example, how could another X-Files film possibly hope to live up to that film where Gillian Anderson sticks a shotgun into somebody's bottom, or the film where David Duchovny's best friend is Robin Williams playing a cute mentally disabled man?
Come on, that's a big ask.

Can you take no joy in anything? So what if some people enjoyed the show? If you don’t–then don’t go to the cinema. You don’t have to slag it off out of hand, ya jerk.

You know there are a lot of fans dieing for anything X Files, including me. The negativity in this article sucks. This would be a dream come true if a movie happened, but im still skeptical, cause of all the talk and delays.

Get your facts straight when you’re talking about how successful their careers are after TXF especially Anderson’s. You obviously missed the fact that last year she won a Bafta nomination, an Emmy nomination and won the Broadcasting Press Guild Award, all for her role in Bleak House, which was huge as far as popularity goes. Add The Last King of Scotland in the popularity list, since that’s your main concern and not if they make decent movies, no matter how popular they are obviously meaning the box office. There is a huge amount of people eager to see a second movie, been waiting and crossing fingers all these years for a second movie. You’re entitled in your opinion, not being interested seeing the movie or never really liked TXF and all, but making stupid assumptions about their careers and motives behind the decision for for making an XFII just shows your lack of judgement not to mention the lack of objective information about the actors. When the movie comes out, don’t worry. People who won’t stop talking through their a$$es are not invited.

While I find news of a second film surprising and am not entirely confident that it is a good idea, I’ve got to say that this article is absolutely horrible. Not only is it incredibly mean spirited, but your sources are questionable at best. You come across sounding like it may have been your bottom that Gillian Anderson stuck the shotgun up and you have yet to remove it.

anyone who keeps posting about their hate for the xfiles, surely has issues, mostly with the pages stuck together.
