Clive_owen_new_bondAnother day has passed without finding out who’ll play James Bond in Casino Royale.

But don’t be sad - that’s another day of discovering the betting odds of some more of the contenders for the new James Bond role. And that’s got to be a good thing, right?

Ready for today’s set of new James Bond betting odds, with some help from Betfair.com? Good, lets go…

Clive Owen - It took a while for people to notice Clive -
possibly because he’d spend most of the last decade starring in tripe.
But where Croupier got him noticed, Closer and Sin City
have pushed him into the big league. He doesn’t need Bond as much as
used to, and he’s been quick to dispel rumours that he wants the job,
but those rumours haven’t gone away. Current odds - 31/15

Orlando Bloom - Orlando, despite being in quite a lot of
films, is still such a total personality vacuum onscreen that audiences
are yet to take him seriously as a leading man. That never stopped Roger Moore,
mind you. But where Moore had a vaguely hulking physical presence,
Orlando only has his pretty-boy good looks to fall back on. And James
Bond certainly wouldn’t be seen dead waxing the gap between his
eyebrows. Current odds - 16/5

Mark Wahlberg - Brother of a New Kid On The Block and
a former knicker model, Marky Mark has been having some amount of
success as an actor, especially when he’s had a shot at slightly
left-field roles, like in Boogie Nights or I Heart Huckabees.
Stick him in the mainstream, however, and every last drop of his
charisma dries up. He’s flat-out sucked every time he’s attempted to do
anything remotely action-y, and you don’t get much more mainstream
action than Bond. He still has fairly short odds, though, Current odds - 17/5

Vinnie Jones - Although Vinnie Jones is always carping on
about being a great big Hollywood filmstar, he’s mostly been confined
to playing the silent heavy of a villain. When he’s tried to take a
film on his own shoulders, it’s flopped. Unless the plot of Casino Royale
has been changed enough to include a scene where Bond headbutts a nonce
down the dog track, Vinnie Jones playing Jimmy Bond is going to remain
a particularly weird dream. Current odds - 7/2

Tom Cruise - Bizarrely, mental old Tom is in the Betfair
shortlist for Bond. Like he needs it - he’s probably the world’s
biggest moviestar, and can draw in a big box office haul whatever he
stars in. But there’s a part of us that’d love to see a new Cruise
Bond, if only to hear him say "You don’t know anything about man-eating sharks, Scaramanga, I do!" Current odds - 31/8
