Myspace Trawl - Jeniferever
Then buzz it up

Another week means another voyage in to the world MySpace, the internet arm of 24, Lost and Simpsons-stealing media baron Rupert Murdoch.
Come on, be honest. It’s not like anything else on Sky One is half decent, apart from the occasional episode of Brainiac which shows fit women converting around in skimpy clothing whilst blowing seven shades of shit out of microwaves and caravans. We’re still unsure as to why Mr. Murdoch bought MySpace from some make-believe character called Tom who’ll always have more friends then you. MySpace is just full of random people being friend whores, chucking out countless fake invites to profiles that lead to spyware sites that bugger up your computer, countless shite adverts telling you you've won free laptops (on the last count we'd won 357) and finally horrific bands who say they're good when this isn’t true. This is where hecklerspray comes wandering in, to tell you who's decent. Like Jeniferever.
This isn’t the first band that we’ve covered from Sweden. Oh no! Previously we’ve uncovered the delightful but psychedelic-sounding Dungen. Some of you may actually have to put down your mug of PG Tips when reading this, but amazingly, there are countries around the world actually capable of making incredibly good music that aren't Uncle Sam’s USA or her majesty’s swan-loving England.
The most popular music act to come from Sweden is ABBA. Everyone has had the misfortune of hearing ABBA before. Usually you get to hear a track by ABBA when people decide to either: A) Throw a 'hilarious' 70s theme party which involves you dressing like a twat in afro wigs, glitter and platform shows. This is always a so-called 'laugh' as you get to look like a knob for an entire night while celebrating a rubbish decade which you weren’t actually alive in. B) Have a wedding. An ABBA track will inevitably be played at a time when the night is almost over and the crap mobile DJ tries to stir up people to get on to the dance floor. By this time, most people will have drunk their own weight in alcohol, but they’ll always be a few ropey-looking women who’ll wobble over and strut their stuff. Some even go a little further and screech out a horrible version of Waterloo if karaoke has been provided.
With the kind of music Jeniferever create, it is more like a calming and soothing experience then anything. It won’t tip you over the edge, make you want to go crazy and start your own cult involving the slaughter of sheep. Maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but to be honest we have no idea what twisted pleasures the readers of this site indulge in.
The choice Jeniferever song isn’t even one of the songs on MySpace’s horrible flash player. If you scroll down a little bit, you’ll see a few videos. The one in particular we’re interested in is a video for a song called Alvik which is a single from the band's latest album. Glorious and gentle acoustic sounds pour out of the guitar creating a feeling of warmth and tenderness. It’s the perfect music to accompany a long drive down a lonely dusty highway or an isolated countryside trek. The video has that homemade feel to it, shunning the traditional music video idea that everything has to be slick, fancy and sophisticated.
Alvik’s video just seems like it was taken from a family who want capture the innocence and magic of their children’s childhood. The idea of children actually riding bikes and playing on swings is almost a dead activity now. Today it appears that mobile phones, Playstations and the internet have taken this away. Maybe it’s a deliberate attempt to show what the past was like before technology arrived.
The other four songs on the Jeniferever MySpace page are equally spectacular. Three come from the last album release entitled Choose A Bright Morning and another from an earlier release in 2004. Even more excitingly, the band are steadily touring around Europe. There’s far too many dates to lazily copy and paste onto here but the tour is quite extensive and should be somewhere around your town or city at some point. Now, after that free press for Sony’s Playstation, we expect a free Playstation 3 in the post quite soon.
