Rebels Of The Flesh MySpace TrawlDon’t worry, the usual musicfest that is our MySpace Trawl is technically here for you today. But it's not like our typical one where we just talk about a band - today you get a two-for-one special! A gig review and a more traditional trawl.

Now usually when you get a two-for-one special, say, in a supermarket, it's usually because some dimwitted shelf-stacker dropped a crate of biscuits on the floor and they have to be sold off as quickly as possible. But this two-for-one special came about as quite conveniently, since the targets of the Trawl - Rebels Of The Flesh - happened to be playing a gig last night. So using our super-intelligence, we decided to combine the Trawl and a gig review together! Genius or what?

Anyone?

Another miracle has happened as well - Rebels Of The Flesh is a band with girls in! Not just one or two, but a whole bloody group of them! Some bands usually have a few women chucked in for a bit of eye candy as well as their musical ability, for example Charlotte Hatherley who used to be in Ash and the scouse one from The Zutons. Rebels Of The Flesh are apparently giving girl-guitar music a bad name, and from what we’ve seen and heard, we can agree with that statement.

After accidentally missing the first few minutes of their set after getting slightly lost finding the venue, we hurriedly ran down the stairs after noticing the music had started. Our bad. On their MySpace page, Rebels Of The Flesh all dressed in, er… well, how can we describe it - in seductive clothing to say the least. We’ll not say more then that, just click and have a look. The perverts amongst you will love it! We thought those said items of clothing were just for publicity or something, but in fact the costumes were there last night to the enjoyment of all the retired skinheads and rockers in attendance.

After listening repeatedly to the highly sexual lyrics of the tracks on their MySpace page (Queen of Pleasure, Whips and Chains) we do very much like ROTF. It’s kind of an unwritten rule that all-female girl bands all have to prance around to sugary sweet music on Saturday morning kids TV shows.  However, things are defiantly different here with all of the members of the band holding their own on stage. There's a definite contrast between what they do live and what has been recorded as well. You can hear Rebels Of The Flesh's good fast rock and roll ethic on CD, but seeing the songs performed live adds much more pace - the guitar work is faster and the vocals sound the way they were meant to be sung, with a bit of extra snarl and bite to them.

Lots of goodies are available on the Rebels Of The Flesh MySpace page - the chance to listen to the tracks we’ve just been prattling on about, a chance to look at some attractive ladies donning even more eye-catching clothing and an opportunity to buy some songs as ringtones. What a crazy technological age we live in now.
