MySpace Trawl – Aquilone
Aquilone come from a place called France which we immaturely associate with stripy jumpers, bikes, onions, baguettes and garlic.
French people put garlic on everything, even their ice-cream. It’s true; we’d never tell you fibs. Good music has come from this part of the world. Something has to, we guess. Ever since their national football squad went dramatically downhill after winning the World Cup in 1998 nothing amazing has come out of the country.
Electronic acts such as Daft Punk led the way, but recent releases from them have made most of the population want to jump from the Eiffel tower. However, Justice saved the day with some good old fashioned throbbing electro. Aquilone may just be yet another quality example of French music. We wonder if they’ll use mimes in their videos…
Using our crap knowledge of French, we are going to take a gamble that ‘Aquil’ has something to do with ‘water’ in French? Are we right? Can anyone with a bit of intelligence confirm or deny this for us please? So that would make an English translation mean something like ‘Water One’. We think. Oh bobbins, this fizzy drink is making us think to hard.
If you like music that is a clash of styles from shoegazing, ambient, electro and all tossed around with moody vocals then you’ll like this. And what’s even better is that you can download an entire album’s worth of music from Aquilone for free.
That’s right, for free! So you go to bed safe in the knowledge that no-one will be accusing you of ripping off artists and chucking you in a prison cell with rapists and murderers. Download the entire release from this handy website.
If you don’t like it, then share with us something that is better in your opinion. We mean music by the way, not some sort of injury you picked up after trying to copy a Jackass stunt.
