Myleene Klass Avoids Dole Queue
Steadfastly refusing to be content with a life of lie-ins and Loose Women, former popstar Myleene Klass has got a new job presenting CD:UK on the telly.
Kiddie music-fest CD:UK goes through presenters like Sharon Osbourne goes through friends. Stopgaps fill with robotically perfect co-host Cat Deeley until they are eventually exposed as unable to string a sentence together and sent on their way.
Who can forget much-hyped ex-Hollyoaker James Redmond taking to the presenting stage with all the confidence of a paraplegic doing his driving test? Although, laughing at Redmond’s inability to read an autocue did at least cheer us all up after a Friday night knocking back Flaming Sambucas.
Myleene Klass (CDs) certainly doesn’t sound like a good hosting choice on paper, particularly when you consider that Cat Deeley won’t even be there to cover for her stumbled links.
The good news is that Deeley is to be replaced by former Kenickie singer, and permanently sexy lady, Lauren Laverne (CDs). She’s already cut her teeth recently on ITV’s Orange Playlist, so we know she’s got the goods.
"I’m over the moon to be working on the most exciting music show on TV." chirped Laverne "The world is awash with incredible bands and musicians at the moment and I can’t wait to get stuck in."
But now back to Myleene. As her solo album Moving On nestles quietly away in every car boot sale from Lands End to John O’ Groats, what does she think about nabbing such a jammy, regular bill-paying gig?
"I have always been a huge fan of CD:UK. This is my ideal job and I can’t wait to get started."
This is a good sign. If Myleene Klass understands that saying very little about anything makes people happy she might just able to hold her new job down. Just "Welcome to CD:UK’ and "See you next week" will do nicely.
Laverne will be there to pick up the rest; interviews, droll-links and announcing McFly for the umpteenth time, thus leaving Myleene free to work on her next diet.
