MUSIC SHOCKER: Daft Punk digs hole, throws in spade, jumps in, keeps digging

Digg this!

Daftpunk Here at hecklerspray we’ve waited four long years for the follow up to the uber-successful Discovery but can now report that Daft Punk have not delivered. What they have released ain’t pretty and it certainly ain’t party…

‘Human After All’ (what a prophetic title) is the sound of a band who’ve lost touch with what made them great in the first place, a band who’ve not taken a blind bit of notice of the new young-guns racing up the track behind them.

Tunnel vision, myopia, sheer arrogance and laziness, call it what you will. These are people who think just turning up to the party is good enough – wrong.

The single ‘Robot Love’ sounds like a funked up remix of ‘Eye of the Tiger’. Jesus. Not big, not clever. Leave that kind of thing to LCD Soundsystem they do it so much better…

Living in a hermetically-sealed world of unparalleled critical and commercial acclaim has done Thomas and Guy no favours whatsoever. This album appears to be so bereft of musical inspiration that it is as sterile as the surface of the moon. It is the sound of two Frenchmen trading water. Passing water is more interesting.

But hey, do yourself a favour and sensibly dismiss this inferior tripe, spending your Jukebox Money on some decent new music instead, such as is produced by the brilliant M83, the LCD boys, even Mylo (at least he has found that sense of fun and humour that the po-faced Punksters have definitely lost). So don’t be daft, punk, for there are always alternatives here at hecklerspray. Wheat / chaff.

Sidenote to self: Daft Punk will definitely NOT be playing in this house…

I was really skeptical of/disappointed in HAA at first, but then i saw DP’s 2007 live mix show. It changed the way i hear their music, it changed my life. I freaking love this album.
