U2_mtv_best_groupOnly three more days to go until the 2005 MTV Music Video Awards take place in Miami. So there are also three more days left of MTV Music Video Awards betting. Trust us, finding out if Gwen Stefani can dance better than Ciara or not gets a whole lot more interesting if you’ve placed a bet on it beforehand.

Today we’re looking at the nominees for the Best Group Video award. This is the award where, traditionally, all kinds of pasty-faced gits can stand up and carp on about ‘real’ music - even though their songs have been processed and tweaked and marketed just as aggressively as someone like 50 Cent, as we’re about to see.

Here are the latest betting odds for the MTV MVA Best Group Video Award, brought to you with Betfair.com

Black Eyed Peas: Don’t Phunk With My Heart -
We wouldn’t dare phunk with anyone’s hearts, thank you very much. In
this video, the Black Eyed ‘people only like us because we’ve got a
pretty lady singing now’
Peas do a sort of Blind Date pastiche, but one
with a ridiculously bearded rapper instead of a screeching ginger
scouser. Current odds - 1/100

Destiny’s
Child w/T.I & Lil’ Wayne
: Soldier -Destiny’s Child releasing a song
called Soldier? Surely they weren’t doing something as cynical as
attempting to draw out the patriotic dollar, were they? The video for
Soldier is dire - the usual standing around a car type nonsense - but
the best bit is where the girls sing that they’re looking for a
soldier, and then a diddy wee fella that looks like an embryo in a
baseball cap
starts rapping at them. Current odds - 1/100

Green
Day
: Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day’s album American Idiot has
been called their London Calling, but a kind of London Calling that’s
been expressly written and recorded to provide the background music to
anything on The O.C that’s vaguely intense. The thing that grates about
this video is that he keeps singing how he walks alone, but in fact -
if he’d only look around - he’d notice a couple of other blokes walking next
to him. Idiot. Current odds - 1/100

The
Killers
: Mr. Brightside - Despite being a fairly decent - if a little
O.C-ish - song, The Killers manage to foul up the video to Mr
Brightside
by seemingly letting a three year-old boy with 10p and a new
digital camcorder direct it. The Killers play their instruments! The
Killers play their instruments in negative! The Killers play their
instruments behind a big blanket! Woo! Current odds - 1/100

U2:
Vertigo - U2 have two types of song, slow ones and fast ones. This is
one of the fast ones, and it’s lyrics are so completely appalling that
they beggar belief. The video sees tiny Bono and his glum friends
playing their song in a desert while some epic circles swoop around
them. Strange. We always thought the Vertigo video was the iPod advert.
Current odds - 1/100
