Then buzz it up

***LATEST MTV MUSIC VIDEO AWARD ODDS HERE!***
The MTV Music Video Awards take place on August 28th, and we’re running down the betting odds for each category before the ceremony.
Today we’re going to look at the nominees for the Best Female Video category. Unsurprisingly, this is one of the strongest categories in the entire award list. Have they performed the best songs of the last year, or are they simply up for the award because they look nice in hotpants?
Maybe we’ll never know, but in the meantime here are the latest MTV VMA Best Female Video odds from hecklerspray and Betfair.com…
Kelly Clarkson: Since U Been Gone - This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Winners of TV talent shows should all follow the Gareth Gates route -
massive first single followed by disappointment after disappointment
and then oblivion. That’s how we like our TV talent show winners. Who
does Kelly Clarkson think she is, releasing one of the best songs of
the last few years ages after she won American Idol? And how dare she
make an excellent video to go with it! Current odds - 1/2
Shakira: La Tortuna - We’re slowly becoming unhealthily obsessed
with this video; it shows Shakira covered in oil writhing about all over the
place. However, we’re snapped out of our Shakira-related daydreams when
we hear the song that goes along with it. It’s horrible, Turkish
all-inclusive resort holiday music, and Shakira sounds a bit like Pat Butcher when she sings it. Still, though. Oil. Current odds - 3/50
Mariah Carey: We Belong Together - Mariah Carey is a good singer. We
know this because she sings four hundred pissing notes when just one will
do. She sounds like Judy Finnigan trying to work a theremin. Apparently
We Belong Together is her most popular song ever, even if there is
something pretty creepy about having a nervous breakdown brought on by
your marriage and then wearing your wedding dress in a music video.
Current odds - 2/67
Amerie: 1 Thing - 1 Thing was the Crazy In Love of 2005, with it’s
"manumamuma-oh"s and it’s leggy singer and it’s unnerving ability to
crawl into your brain and never leave. The video for 1 Thing, though, is dire -
just her singing in front of a picture of a city or in a corridor - but we
could basically look at Amerie until our eyes fell out. Current odds -
1/50
Gwen Stefani: Hollaback Girl - Spelling the word ‘banana’ in a
song? Brilliant. Changing the word ’shit’ to ’shhh’ for live
performances to give the impression that it’s being sung by the world’s
most glamorous librarian? Brilliant. Having a slightly run-of-the-mill
Neptunes production? Not so brilliant. Dressing up as a cheerleader for
the video? Oh Gwen. How could we ever stay mad at you? Current odds -
1/50
Tomorrow: Best Male Video. But in the meantime, head over to the USA Special Bets section of Betfair.com to see how the odds for all of the categories are changing. Don’t forget to have a cheeky punt while you’re there, pop pickers.
