Is it just us, or should a European video award ceremony kind of primarily be for musicians and artists who were from Europe?
You know, countries like England, Sweden, Iceland, Germany, those sort of places. And not countries outside of Europe. Countries like America. America isn't in Europe, but it's still wiping the floor with the Europeans in the nominations for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards.
Maybe we’re being picky or whatnot, but look at the nominees for Best Band – of the five potential winners, the only European act is the relatively unknown Tokio Hotel. It seems to suggest that not a lot of thought went into the categories. We only say this because the rest of the nominated bands are Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park. All American we see. Er… what about Muse? They count as European and are a band aren’t they? OK, admittedly the 'Best' part is a bit of a stretch, plus they haven't had an album out this year, but come on.
Hell, even the host is bloody American. Snoop Dogg is presenting the bash and will probably speak in his own stupid 'shizzle' dialect that only the boys from the hood will understand, and probably not the hood of Finland or Norway, either, even though they're the people he'll be addressing. Just to prove how wank the MTV Europe Music Awards are, the New Sounds Of Europe category contains acts exclusively from the UK – The Fratellis, Jamie T, Kate Nash, Calvin Harris, The Enemy, Mark Ronson, James Morrisson, Biffy Clyro, The View and Klaxons. Why someone like Bjork is ignored is a bit beyond us. Yes she might be crackers and liable attack you in an airport, but her style is unique from album to album and doesn’t just take other people's songs and remake them – *cough* Mark Ronson *cough*.
And before any smart arses try and catch us out, we are aware that Bjork has been on the go for ages, but that hasn't stopped Biffy Clyro from getting nominated. Let’s just hope Justice beat Jesus-dressing Kanye West in the Best Video category again so he can throw a big strop and cry like a girl. It’ll really be the highlight of the ceremony.

Well, if the other countries didn’t unhappily associate English music with Doherty and Winehouse then you might have a shot. Although, those American bands I hate very much. Buncha wanking emo, mouthy girls. I still can’t look at that one guy from Fall Out Boy without getting pissed.

I think it’s wrong to say that Tokio Hotel are relatively unknown. They already have thousands of fans all over Europe. The fans already plan big fan actions for the awards show. Of course they don’t have a big chance but I wouldn’t forget them so easily. Their fans vote like hell to let them win. And here in Germany, the home country of Tokio Hotel, they get always at every awards show an award because their fans are so many. Maybe Tokio Hotel can’t win the award for the best band but I think they have good chances to win the one for “interact”.
Tokio Hotel fans are voting the whole day long and known all over Europe for being crazy, you will hear them at 1st november at whole Munich screaming.
