The scourge that are biopics have long plagued Hollywood. They've been the cause of both unending sadness for time lost watching them, and an incredibly deep longing for your $8 back – and Hollywood doesn't even care.
It's about to get worse, too, because Missy Elliott is jumping on that well-worn self-absorbed bandwagon. An in-depth film on her rise from ghetto-whatever to probable before-and-after Trimspa spokesperson has just stepped out of the starting gate.
Although nobody really wants to watch the film in its entirety, there's been a tad of anticipation building for a possible scene where she spilled some chili dog on her diamond encrusted track suit with the golden zipper. If they get it right, theatre emotion shall abound.
Biopics are an uncomely lot. In recent times though, say the past decade or so, they've sprung up like monkeys on a banana boat. Mohammed Ali, 50 Cent, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Alexander the Great, Howard Hughes, Frida Kahlo, Domino Harvey, Truman Capote, Edward R. Murrow, and the main fish from Finding Nemo have all been the subjects of them, – did it do them any favours? We mean other than buckets of money, exaggerated glory, and a quick splurb on hecklerspray.
Now Missy Elliott has her own life story moving toward the big screen – and who do we have to blame for that? Robert De Niro. His company – Tribeca Films – is set to produce it. The screenwriter from the movie Take The Lead, one Dianne Houston, is said to be developing the manuscript with help from Elliott.
Some plot points we'd like to see included are; the time Missy was featured on MTV's Cribs, the time Missy was featured on MTV's Punk'd, and the time she's said to have successfully kept a barracuda away from her half-melted candy bar.
That Houston lady should contact us, as we've already got a killer dialogue written for that last bit.

Mosquito says
They’re REALLY scraping the biopic barrel now, aren’t they? Missy Elliott of all people? What is there possibly to say about her that hasn’t already been depicted myriad times by others of similar predicament to her? An egregious way to waste money.
