Michelle Rodriguez is well known for playing tough-guy roles in movies and on TV. But this simmering machismo seems to also stretch to her real life, if her jail saga is anything to go by.
Because Michelle Rodriguez is too hardcore for your human jails. Sentenced to 60 days in a Los Angeles jail for violating her probation, Michelle Rodriguez flexed her giant biceps, pulled her scary Michelle Rodriguez-trademarked scowl and got her jail sentence reduced. To four hours.
Thanks to some brutally indiscreet comments left on hecklerspray for us backwards, mid-season two UK Lost viewers, it's now common knowledge that Michelle Rodriguez's Lost character (as in all Michelle Rodriguez vehicles, her character was basically known as 'Michelle Rodriguez') will meet a sticky end before long. It's a shame that her character wasn't blessed with the same stunning good fortune that Michelle Rodriguez has when it comes to staying in jail.
Everyone knows the Michelle Rodriguez jail story by now. Already on probation for driving around LA really badly a few times, Michelle Rodriguez was then stopped in Hawaii and arrested for drink-driving – we're guessing that listening to Michael shouting "WAAAALLLLT!" incessantly at the top of his voice every day turned her to the booze – before getting thrown in jail for a week. Then an LA judge decided that the whole Hawaii drink-driving thing – plus her subsequent sweary outburst at the arresting officer – violated her original probation and sentenced Michelle Rodriguez to 60 days in jail. Michelle then made the world's dumbest jail statement:
"I'm a gypsy. I can see beauty in a jail cell."
So imagine how Michelle Rodriguez felt – after salivating over a full 60 days of gypsy-style jail cell beauty-seeing – when her sentence was slashed to four hours and 27 minutes. That's a full 320 times less gypsy-style jail cell beauty-seeing than poor old Michelle anticipated.
Apparently, Michelle Rodriguez's micro jail sentence stemmed from LA's already-overcrowded jails. There are so many crooks in Los Angeles that the majority of short-term non-violent offenders are taken to jail, booked and then booted out again the same day. And that's what happened to Michelle Rodriguez – arrested at breakfast and released at lunchtime last Thursday. However, this did mean she missed an episode of Jeremy Kyle and all of This Morning; and if that's not punishment, what is?
And how did Michelle Rodriguez apparently celebrate being freed from prison? The same way as any self-respecting, mannish former TV star – a spot of relaxing ultimate fighting.
