Michael Moore and the US government are like an old divorced couple – they keep pretending to hate each other, but it's only a matter of time before they bump into each other at a bar, remember the old days and have a bunch of disgusting make-up sex.
Fortunately any sex involving either Michael Moore or any American politician will have to wait, because Michael Moore is out to get the government. After the government investigated Moore's apparently unauthorised visit to Cuba during the filming of his new movie Sicko, Michael Moore has hit back, stating that he wants to launch an investigation against the people who launched an investigation against him. From hereon in, the government can be expected to launch an investigation of Michael Moore's investigation of their investigation, and then Michael Moore will launch an investigation against the investigation that was launched when he launched an investigation about the investigation about him.
And this will continue until the end of time, or at least until Michael Moore figures that Sicko has got enough publicity.
The world – it has often been said – is split into two groups: the pro-government group and the pro-Michael Moore group. That's slightly unfair, as a) this sort of grouping only strengthens the partisan fervour that is helping to destroy intelligent political discourse and b) both Michael Moore and the American government are a right old packet of bell-ends.
On the one side you've got the government – illegal wars, suspect long-term expiration of assault weapon bans, that sort of thing; and on the other is Michael Moore – a millionaire in a baseball cap with an ego the size of a small planet. Michael Moore and the government have clashed in the past – Fahrenheit 9/11 may as well have been called Peee-Yew: George Smells Of Fannies – but it was Michael Moore's recent trip to Cuba that kicked things off between the feuding pair again.
According to reports, Michael Moore apparently took a group of 9/11 survivors to Cuba recently to see if a treatment of non-stop rum, cigars and laid-back boogaloo salsa could provide a better service than the American healthcare system. This was all for Michael Moore's new film Sicko, about the pharmaceutical industry. Handily, as Sicko was gearing up for its premiere at Cannes, the US government decided to investigate Moore's Cuban visit. Unauthorised visits to Cuba by Americans are illegal and punishable by either a $250,000 fine or a ten-year jail sentence, and the investigation apparently wanted to try and get to the bottom of exactly how unauthorised it was.
But this investigation has left Michael Moore angry. How dare the government launch a well-publicised investigation into a visit concerning his new film when he's supposed to be publicising that same film! And that's why Michael Moore is launching a counter-investigation against the government, as Reuters reports:
Moore's attorney David Boies sent the U.S. Treasury Department a Freedom of Information Act request for all documents in its possession regarding its civil investigation of Moore which was launched by the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control.
As well as being better publicity for Sicko than Michael Moore could ever wish for, this investigation episode is also bound to be fuel for Michael Moore's next feature-length documentary – tentatively titled Stupid White Men Who Investigate Equally Stupid White Men For Going To Nice Countries Without Asking First.

MM is a moron – not only a moron but one that doesn’t particularly understand the law all that well. If you are an American and you need to go to Cuba you file for a Visa. Two wrongs don’t make a right but this guy is a useless shit disturber, with nothing to contribute except his small minded political bashing.

i concur, that fat twat needs a smack in the mouth on behalf of 9-11 victims after his bullshit farenheit ‘documentary’

Michael Moore may have a weakness for over the top self aggrandizement, but you can hardly characterize his work as “small minded political bashing.” In a world where a sizable chunk of the “news ” reporting business is owned by the like of Rupert Murdoch, Moore has not been just a gadfly, but has often been the most outspoken and widely heard voice of opposition to what has been an era of repression and media domination by neoconservative hubris. Along with the late Molly Ivins, he deserves credit for helping a lot of us hold on to our sanity during this horrid time of imperial presidents and mass killing justified by lies.

Veronica Guerin would have something to say about that. You have a point, I will give you that. The problem in the media is that it is all one sided – Rupert Murdoch and Michael Moore alike.
What worries me, is that people do not question what these people say or the view that they are “selling”. Case in point, the USA trades heavily with China because of money and yet Cuba is under an embargo for being Communist.
At the end of the day, MM, RP and the like are all driven by one thing $$$$$$$$$$. The sad part again is that no one questions.

Liberals constantly whine about dumb things like unnecessary war, dependence on foreign oil, global warming, outsourcing of jobs, eroding civil liberties, politically motivated firings in the Justice Department, etc. When are liberals going take a serious look at the true villain? What about all the destruction wreaked by Michael Moore? Can’t they at least get it through their thick heads that the guy is FAT? Are they blind?

It’s important to disturb the shit. Otherwise it just piles up without a fight.

do you honestly believe that medical care is better in Cuba, a country where you cannot get milk for a child over the age of 3?? Are you so blind as to believe that MM has 9/11 victims/widows/etc in mind when he shouts about the government ?? I hate to break it to you, but the only thing Moore is interested in is press and $$$$ as stated before.
Don’t belive me.. ok then watch “Bowling for Columbine” the school officials he fawns over where the same ones that ignored the blatant kow-towing to the jocks/popular kids etc, and speaks nothign of the direct effect of the TRAGEDY THEY HELPED TO CREATE.
I am not a liberal, but I am sick(o) and tired of the soap box that the MIchael Moore’s, Bill Maher and even Rupter Murdoch gets to stand on UNCHALLENGED.
Like all things in life, follow the money, if you follow it in MM case you will realize all he is doing in making money of people who risked their lives to help others. And that my friends is the definition of “SICKO”

also, please let me know if he donates 1p from the profits of Sicko to the widows and first responders, I think not.
