We’ve had a weekend to process Michael Jackson’s death, mainly by hearing Uri Gellar babble on witlessly about it forever.
So now what? Well, now we all deal with Michael Jackson’s death however we can. The coroners will continue to investigate what killed Michael Jackson and the newspapers will continue to not decide if they should celebrate Michael Jackson’s life or just go ahead and tell everyone what a freaky drug-obliterated nutter he was as lasciviously as possible.
And Michael Jackson’s London concert promoter AEG? It’s apparently bundling together a cash-in DVD of Michael Jackson’s last-ever concert rehearsal. Sounds tasteful.
When it comes to celebrating Michael Jackson’s life, it’s important that you pick the right time of his life to celebrate. Going back at least 20 years seems to be the best bet, because then you’ll be remembering the insanely talented young man who had all the best songs, all the best dance moves and all of popular culture in an iron-grip headlock.
Whereas if you stray any closer to the present, you’ll obviously end up remembering a terrifying hermit with a warped Edvard Munch face, a fondness for dangling his children from balconies, a tendency to be constantly accused of child molestation and an unironic painting of himself as Jesus with Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein as his disciples. And then you’ll start getting confused. And then you might cry.
So, yes, when it comes to Michael Jackson it’s best to completely ignore anything that happened to him in the last few years. For instance, you certainly wouldn’t want to watch a DVD of Michael Jackson’s final concert rehearsal, would you? Because what’s the point? Why would anyone want to sit through a depressingly hollow spectacle where a middle-aged shell of a man less than 24 hours away from death hesitantly shuffles backwards and forwards while an army of dancers exhausts itself desperately trying to divert everyone’s attention away from the impossibly tragic figure that the main attraction has become?
What’s that? Concert promoter AEG plans to release that exact thing? Oh. Fair enough. The New York Daily News reports:
Jackson… was there for an “electric” full rehearsal on the night before his death. The rehearsal included dancers, musicians and aerial performers. Three people close to the production said it had been captured by multiple cameras, and the audio was digitally recorded in a manner that could be used to produce surround-sound DVD and audio products.
Perfect. Everyone’s a winner here. AEG gets to recoup some of the money it lost when Michael Jackson died, and the ticket-holders who had been looking forward to seeing Michael Jackson perform this summer will now get a taste of what they’ve missed – and in high-definition too, so it’ll be like Michael Jackson is right there in your living room, scaring your children and pets with his nightmarish deathmask of a face.
As for us, we’re going to avoid this Michael Jackson DVD like the plague. To us the DVD not only reeks of cynical commercial opportunism, but it’s also profoundly disrespectful to the memory of a genuine megastar like Michael Jackson.
No, we’re going to pay tribute to the great man the right way – by going on the internet and buying a hopelessly amateurish embroidery of Michael Jackson as an angel flying up to heaven with that monkey thing he used to own sitting on a cloud next to him playing a harp.
Incidentally, can you hurry up and start selling these please, eBay? You should be all over this shit by now.

How dare u write this story, it is one of the most offensive things i have ever read, the man has just died and u are commenting on the mans looks, keep your opinions 2 yourself.
And for the DVD thing of his last rehearsal i belive that is a great idea, you may belive it was morbid but i owned a ticket for the This Is It concerts and i among with millions of MJ fans would love to know what he had in store for us.
So go to hell!
I hope you had tickets for one of the first few shows, as I reckoned on him making it through three shows tops before having a whinge & pulling out of the remaining dates.
I’d have preferred if that skank Amy Winehouse had shuffled off the mortal coil instead, but I shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for that to happen
omg i totally agree. Amy Winehouse should’ve gone! Recently my friends are going crazy over Britney Spears coming over to Australia and are going to buy tickets. Why? To lose their dignity? She should’ve gone instead of Michael as well.
I just want to say that I think that this is very disrespectful giving that Michael Jackson only died last week. Especially to talk about his negative sides criticizing his looks and ridiculing the production of this DVD. I think it’s a great idea as it will allow all of the fans who wanted to see the concert to have a taste of what he had instore, and it will also be a way in which people can share in his last hours. I think that people like this should keep their opinions to themselves. Michael Jackson may not have had an easy life but we should remember the good things about him, not the bad things that people have claimed that he has done. Nobody is perfect and nobody has the right to judge people in this way. This stuart heritage guy ought to learn to keep his mouth shut if he can’t say anything nice, and anyway who is he to comment – I bet he has made some mistakes in his time, and as to the comments on Michael’s looks: everyone is beautiful in their own unique way – even Michael Jackson.
Mandi
If MJ or any man wanted your son to stay a few nights in his bedroom wouldn’t you make a judgement then?
He’s even been profiled as a child molester by experts.
Tyra…what kind of parent that allowed their children to sleep overnight with a man that clearly is not their father??????????
As Michael said in his interview with bashir…he said if the children’s parent allowed that they sleep overnight with him then its ok (he didnt ask them to overnight but the children want it them self…and as Michael said the children should sleep in his guest room…but some children insist to sleep together with him…while he sleep on the floor).
I my self a parent and i would never let my child to sleep overnight moreover in 1 bed with any man (or even woman) except with us as their parent. Such a parent certaintly has something in their mind….such as “hmm…how can i get millions of dollar from this guy”. So better you think before you make such judgement…..
Wow. May everyone, when you die, degrade you as much. Besides, should someone who looks like a wombat really be dishing out complaints on appearances?
rip mj
this is how real fans miss you: http://tinyurl.com/fanreactionpics
Right, lets remember the freak and the kiddy diddler. He did get charged twice (not convicted, due to a myseterious dropping of charges).
You people are brain dead morons.
MJ is rotting in hell, or is on a beach somwhere as he was taken off the grid.
Either way, good riddance.
Micheal was the best. there is no performer on the planet like him or i doubt will ever be. i am just sad that my kids could not see him. i grew up with his music and his music touched my life and helped me during the saddest times in my life. just wish i could have told him that in person!
You got any official statement regarding the DVD?
I think you are much worse than Michael Jackson…If this is the best you can do I suggest you go and find yourself a new job!!!It is much worse than horrible!!!
I guess one can get paid to write dirt about one who made so many people happy with his gifts of not just music, but poetry, dancing, production in entertainment, fashion and video clips trend setting….Just how low are you willing to go?
I wonder how many lives were touched by this article, to make it even remote meaningful to Michael’s contribution to the world?!
Did you know those parents have pressured(to use a mild word) their kids to say what they said, and in the end the kids took it all back?
Well,Michael Jackson’s name will shine on wheather you like it or not! Sorry, what was yours??… At this point I start wondering where Heckler is recruiting their columnists from – please Heckler, can they be expected to have some manners, even if this is a gossip column and not a biography? Thank God I know how wonderful UK people really are, or else I would be worried about so much cynicism at a young age. You must be one unhappy lad…please stop with the insults and bad words, think a little about the family, if not Michael. You can say nicer what you have to say.
Think how this would feel if you were at the receiving end.
And not sure what your source of info is, but did you know how many ppl offered to not get a refund for their concert tickets, in his memory? Anyway, it is diffcult to imagine someone so angry and hateful at this time of sorrow for so many everywhere.
You are a typical journalist trying to write a bad story for some attention. A legend has died, Have some respect. Michael Jackson is the greatest entertainer ever in the History.. You write this artical like you are better than MJ but at the end of the day He’s a Legend and your a loser. get a life!! RIP Michael Jackson..
You are a joke. MJ is a legend. Get a proper job you twat and respect the fact that michael jackson alone has changed the way that music is and changed many people’s lives for the better. you try and donate all of your proceedings of this SHIT article to charity because MJ gave and gave and people like you don’t research the good things that he has done, just the unproven and untrue suspicions of what he may have done.
One word for you…****
Is Michael Jackson dead?
Bad story, not worth publishing, didn’t read past first paragraph, there are people who admire the work he did in the nineties and today too, don’t just suggest the only decent stuff was in the 80′s cos you clearly havn’t payed anough attention to his later achiements, i.e. the support he gives to charities across the world, the support he gives to friends like the time he phoned Jade goody to wish her well (he didn’t need to do that), the way he thanked his fans every time he was in public, the music video’s that people made sure they were at home to see, including “you rock my world” (which I love, the 15 minute version is fantastic)they gave music channels a reason to show music videos. I prefer the Michael jackson from Dangerous era onwards, this is because thats the time I remember when I was a teenager, You of course are older (I asume) so prefer the older stuff. Thats why Jacko was so diverse, he changed his style to suite different era’s of music. At a point it bacame fashionable to write negative news about Michael Jackson, newspapers made millions/billions selling stories about him, however, I have news for you, it’s not fashionable anymore. R.I.P Michael Jackson, these losers can’t bring you down anymore.
I’m interested in seeing this final set because it would appear Jackson himself had accepted that he was at his best well in the past. Much like you’ve pointed out, he was interested in celebrating that undeniably amazing portion of his career while brushing aside most of the last decade and a half. From what I’ve seen, the set only had one song from History and nothing from Invincible. For the most part, it was going to be full of Thriller/Bad fun.
But I don’t understand why some fans try so hard to completely ignore the bizarre side of his life. Yes, he was an amazing artist, sold one of the best albums in music history, and reinvented the music video. But he was also a creep who remodeled his appearance and molested children. I don’t see how that just be pushed aside when talking about the man.
Daniel, you(and sadly other too) still ASSUME he was a child molester. That is so not fair, is it?, esp. after he went through an ordeal of a trial. Can’t one at least accept the jury’s decision, and if not, can’t see the uggly maneuvers of the accusers? What made you decide this dirt was true, esp in this sue happy society? Is it so hard to believe someone can be different(as in so nice as he was, and so childish)and easier to find the worst explanation?!…
For starters, the child who accused him in 1993 confessed the dad had him lie. And in v few words, the other who accused him were ppl who committed proven!fraud to milk the system(it was obviously how they made their living),plus were cought on tape intimidating their own kids. Why would you give them not only more credibility then you’d give Michael, but any at all?!! Please read my comment to “MJ-Was it an overdose?” for more.
He was such a sensitive artist, and his spirit was broken by those who would not give him a benefit of the doubt. Even a much stronger person would have gone mad, esp knowing they are innocent…all that embarrasing exposure and mockery were expected to have this impact; many of us so sadly saw that coming, and were not surprised to see him so withdrawn. He simply was not inspired anymore to entertain, he was treated badly and the wound never healed, just became deeper.
So we know whom we can “thank” for depriving us of a lot more of his work.
About his surgeries: Michael liked perfection, and had a low selfesteem with old roots, he could not help. Whoever called him names and put him down, could and should have helped instead. This was also likely an other manifestation (extreme indeed), an extension of his creativity he could not stop.
It is part of who he was.
You are saying his fans ignore that, but it is more like accepting it,having compassion, and putting it into perspective.
If he would have gone completely mad, like other prominent people actually have, this would still not have diminished his contribution and persona. All in one, can’t you see how many people of all kinds he made happy?! This is what is important, and will stay engraved in the future.
i want michael jackson rehearsal dvd im looking any online store where i can bought it for advanced! im looking for his cd dvd everywhere and its all sold out here in japan! people would love to see his last rehearsal dvd, and ofcours purchasing this will help MJ wipe away all of his debt….
so whatever haters say, and whateevr medika or wrioters says! as long as we knew to our selves that we love MJ, dont be affected lets laugh at those people whopse destroying MJ image!
we do what we know that is best for him! long live the king of pop!
and to those whose writing stupid things like this i hope u all burn in hell!
love u MJ! mwaaaa
All the ignorant people who comment about he’s love for kids…. You ve seen the news? You ve seen the Chandler boy telling the world that he had to lie for the money? That there was NEVER any sexual contact? That his dad had that “great” idea? I hope they have to pay it all back and will go on as the family that wrecked MJ….
Come on guys this article is right on. This is a money making PR machine and has little to do with Michael Jackson.
This is just plain ignorant. The poor man has died.
All I can say is that he was and still is widely loved and respected for all the lives he’s changed, the money he’s raised for charity, for his love and the hope his songs bring. I’m not going to put you down for writing this degrading article but please, this will hurt a lot of people’s feelings.
Anyway.
Yes, it is a money making scheme, the lot of it, but at the end of the day his fans want these things and that’s what they’re being given. It’s sad to think the people producing these DVDs, CDs etc are just doing it for the money but I know I will be paying for them, and I don’t mind if it offers me the opportunity to grasp the final memories of Michael Jackson, so that his legacy can live on.
I’m 15 and I love MJ.
R.I.P
