I was raised in a very strict Catholic household and was told that women were not as important as men. We should not expect to go to college or even have an important job (especially not be a priest). My husband put me down in every way possible for 20 years. If his words had been whips, my flesh would have been whacked off to the bones many times. I didn’t know that I had the right to take up for myself, but eventually got out of that verbally, emotionally, and a couple of times, physically abusive relationship–that I now call in my speeches, “The dark ages of my life.” Living with a raging alcoholic is worse than dying. A day never passes that I don’t thank God that I am not in that relationship anymore.

Please don’t make light of what Mel is demonstrating to the world. It is much more a common life form than many can admit.

And Gail, in your comment, I hope you never have to go through an abusive relationship, either, or you wouldn’t leave the words that you did. Mel is wrong for his behavior, and wrong in the way he treated a woman. Mel is the perfect Catholic male.

The Catholic Church is an evil entity because it teaches that women are not to be respected or treated as an equal–It teaches that women and children are less than human. I know, because I grew up in that horrible excuse of a religion. Perhaps, it’s Satan’s church. Only time will tell. Look at the pictures of the Pope, and see the emptiness and lifelessness in his eyes–all power, and no love.

She is a fraud and deserves everything he calls her. If she cared about her kid, she would have just played the tapes in court. She didn’t. She was/is after money and I hope she doesn’t get a dime!
