Over in the UK, we’re all getting deeply excited at the prospect of seeing Alan Sugar being rude and a bit confused towards people in the new series of The Apprentice. But it’s not so rosy in America.

Last year, America suffered from Apprentice overload. As well as the usual Donald Trump shouty boardroom Apprentice, there was also another series of The Apprentice, starring former jailbird and full-time oddball Martha Stewart. But Martha’s show wasn’t a success, something which she lays firmly at the feet of Trump.

Martha Stewart (Stuff) enjoys doing many things with her time, like trying to row across a river in a pumpkin or discussing fashionable pigs
on her daytime TV show, but her efforts at making a new series of The
Apprentice
work went down in flames last year. Less over-compensatingly
masculine than Trump’s Apprentice, Martha would even write a letter of
apology to the contestants which she fired. But it wasn’t a hit. One critic said of The Apprentice: Martha Stewart:

"There is no fear in this show or any of the doom, shame, ignominy or
flat-out reprobation that comes with getting one’s head handed to one
by the Donald."

After just one series, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart bit the dust. At the time, Donald Trump even went so far as to say that Martha’s show almost killed his own.
But now Martha Stewart has hit back, saying that it was all Donald’s
fault in the first place, for not sitting The Apprentice out for one
series:

"Having two ‘Apprentices’ was as unfair to him [Trump] as it was to me. But Donald really wanted to stay on."

Donald Trump, however, is refusing to listen. He said, possibly in an unconvincing voiceover:

"I wish she would be able to take responsibility for her failure."
