Cows abound in the world we call Showbiz. Some are stupid and some are plain mad. But those possessed of BSE – a Big Smug Ego should be prevented from living their fantasies in public without any chance for the viewers to respond appropriately. And where better to do this than Live 8?
Ms Dynamite (CDs) delivered a smug and simplistic proclamation about why we in the West (Boooo!) are totally responsible now and will be, like, for ever and ever for creating the misery and tragedy that stalks Africa. There’s nothing like fame for giving an individual a reason to swallow any and all nonsense to support their own limited perspectives upon events or historical evidence.
She conveniently failed to mention the slave trade on the West
coast of Africa, which was going on long before any horrible European
with rape, slavery and pillage on his wicked mind had even heard of the
dark continent. Who were the perpetrators in those days? Correctamundo… other Africans. Quite possibly helped by their chums up in
the Middle East and North Africa. Still, why let the truth spoil a good
day out? Which brings us to Mariah Carey (CDs) and her delusions of grandeur.
Her tunes (choke!) are so bloody awful they should be used in
psychological warfare against the baddies in siege situations. What
possessed the organisers to give into her begging and wheedling to be
allowed into the party? But
even worse than the sound of her, by allowing some poor little black
choristers onto the stage to support her she took her megalomania to a
new height.
It looks like she is trying to usurp Elton John (CDs) as the grand
dame of pop music. She must surely fail. At least you can sing along
with Elt’s stuff. Well, you can. Poor old Pete Doherty can’t. He’s proved that much.

In live ego, ( sorry, I mean`t live 8 ), some were simply there to promote their music ( Mariah Carey ). With Brad Pitt constantly complaining about not having his own dressing room, and Paul McCartney furious at not receiving enough attention backstage, I ponder whether people were there for a good time, or were people there to help Africa. But what Ms Dynamite does not seem to perceive is the fact that she ALSO is responsible for the growing disparity between rich and poor. Unless she has donated a suitable amount of her money, she contributes to poverty in Africa as well! McCartney`s money alone could probably help about half of Africa. But if EVERYONE is this world simply helped just ONE person in Africa, the problem would be solved. So it is partly America`s fault, but it is also PARTLY yours, mine, and the 200,000 people`s fault crammed into Hyde Park!
