Now, we’re all aware that awards ceremonies are dull. If only there was some way of sprucing them up, like getting an old woman to wear an obscene leotard and dance with some cartoons.

Weirdly enough, that’s exactly what’ll be happening at The Grammys next week - ropey old Abba tribute singer Madonna will be performing live on stage with Damon Albarn’s cartoon supergroup Gorillaz in what’s being called an "exciting Grammy moment," which we think is a kind of code for saying "potential career suicide pact," but hey, who’s counting?

The Grammys are a notoriously dull musical awards ceremony, with
awards being given out left, right and centre for things like Best
Spoken Word Album For Children
and Best Surround Sound Album. If the
Grammy organisers simply stood onstage and hurled all 108 trophies at
the artists who won them, it’d still be a painfully long show.

But there’ll be much more than that at the Grammys - there will be
endless nominations, the traditional ‘don’t file-share, you bastards’ speech, and a
bunch of performances, like the one recently announced between Madonna (CDs)
and Gorillaz.

Children’s chatroom-dwelling cartoon band Gorillaz are thought to be performing in 3D live onstage,
as they did at the MTV Europe awards in Portugal last year. Usually,
the effect of seeing four cartoons come to life and run around a stage
is pretty creepy, but if horse-hater Madonna decides to wear her Grannyporn leotard
from the Hung Up video, she’ll easily out-creep a bunch of floating cartoons.
It’s unknown which track Madonna and Gorillaz will perform at the
Grammys.

Other Grammy performances being lined up include an all-star tribute
to Sly Stone - if your idea of an all-star tribute includes him out of
Maroon 5, Joss Stone and award ceremony mainstays Black Eyed Peas, that
is - and predictable run-throughs by Mariah Carey, John Legend, Bruce
Springsteen, Coldplay
and U2. Count us in - the Grammys are gonna be interesting. No, interesting’s the wrong word…

Madonna performing at the grammy’s will be the only thing keeping my tele tuned in. It’s a shame she first up though–I’m not likely inclined to watch the rest of the show. I think jealously is an obvious disease…you may want to get tested

Well, the Grammys were last night. I now have an HD recording on my DVR that goes from 8:00 to 8:10pm. It’s the Gorillaz/Madonna performance and it rocked.

The rest of the Grammys… blah.

I kinda wanted to see the Gold Digger performance, but not so much as to watch the rest of the Grammys waiting for it.

The only thing memorible about the grammys was Madonna and the Gorillaz, Awesome, too bad the only people who responded were the mini fan pit in front, the rest of the dead beats sat like bumps on a log, waiting to see the same tired hand failing 8 octive tired singer sqeezed into a white dress! (boring) And how did U2 pull off the top awards, the industry is as tired as most ao the winners!

You are a total jerk! Madonna is the Queen and always will be. You wish your pathetic body could look half as good as hers!
