We told you so. The new Oasis single, Lyla, is not a good song. Even Noel agrees with us.

Speaking to MTV, Noelly G says that the track isn’t even the sixth best tune on their new album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’.

So why pick it as the first single? It wasn’t up to him, he says, and he’s angry at the band’s record label for choosing it. "It’s something I will be addressing before I sign a new record deal" he added, probably standing on tiptoes to make himself look more threatening.

And don’t get him started on music videos, either: "This is not the reason why I started a band, to stand on a video stage all day and mime a song 500 times". If you tried making videos that were the slightest bit interesting, Noel, maybe you wouldn’t feel like that.

You can read all of his comments here.

‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ is out on May 30. Preorder a copy from Amazon.co.uk for £8.49

I used to be a big fan of Oasis, but they ceased to be interesting years ago. I’m not at all surprised that they’d record a crappy song like Lyla. Having admitted that the song isn’t very good, they should have had the presence of mind and the power to override the ir label’s desire to release it as the first single.

Is is surprising that a band such as Oasis, that ceased to be interesting years ago, has recorded a song as crappy as Lyla? Not at all. At least they could have had the presence of mind, after admitting that the song isn’t very good, to use whatever leverage they have (and they must have some) to release another, and hopefully better, song as the first single.
