Lowri Turner may well find herself in deep shit after comments made against the gay community.
In an article featured on the Welsh network titled However much I Love My Gay Friends, I Don’t Want Them Running The Country, Lowri Turner goes on… and on… and on… about the virtues of, well, heterosexuality. Her rant begins with a not-very-veiled dig at the two Liberal MPs Mark Oaten and Simon Hughes. Quoth Turner:
“Frankly, I don’t trust a man who says he swings both ways, unless he is a spotty teenager who hasn’t sorted himself out yet. Oaten is 41 and Hughes is 54. If they think they are old enough to run the country then surely they are old enough to work out which gender they fancy?â€
Ladies and gents, welcome to modern thinking 2006.
In her column, Lowri Turner (Books) also claims that those who claim to be bisexual are simply trying
to “fudge the truth.†An unfortunate turn of phrase you no doubt agree.
What Ms Turner may not realise is that, the profession which she calls
her own – namely being a dismal TV presentoid – is filled with homosexual men. OK, that may be a sweeping generalisation on hecklerspray’s part, but seriously, if there are influential men who
find it difficult to be openly gay in TV, then surely these comments
will only add fuel to their fury? With any luck, she’ll never work in
telly again. Of course, Turner pulled out the classic line:
“Before I am accused of
prejudice, I should say that not only are some of my best friends gay … Personally, I have to say that I don’t
think gay men make good party leaders or Prime Ministers.â€
Not prejudiced in any way obviously. Turner rambled on:
“Gay men face challenges of their own, but they do not face those
associated with having children which is the way most of us live. I
have gay friends whose biggest headache is whether to have a black sofa
or a cream one. If they have a child it is a dog.â€
Turner also points out that gay couples have never had to deal with the
trauma of having a child in A&E, or have not had to make the
decision over whether to give them MMR, which dispels any notion that
any gay person could ever make any kind of important decision. Ever.
Regardless of the fact that there are thousands of gay doctors out
there who make those decisions on a daily basis. Maybe she could have
gone further by saying that anyone who hasn’t got children should be
hung drawn and quartered if they even think of entering politics. Turner closed with
“I think gay men are ill-suited to representing the
interests of the population in general. However much I love my gay
friends, I don’t want them running the country.â€
Backlash anyone?

Backlash? Quite the contrary.
Here here, Lowri, well said.
damn. i always knew she was a gobshite..
Erm… “well said”?
Right, so Lowri “vapidwank” Turner has met a lot of gays who like furniture and now thinks they shouldn’t run the country.
Isn’t she just too cool.
And that bollocks about “fudging the truth”: fuck off Lowri, you have no idea.
She is clearly trying to pull a little media circus around herself as she re-launches her flagging career. It’s a bit gross that by spouting some bullshit about “the dilema of choosing a sofa” she can get mediaspace.
Urgh. Lowri Turner, you are a nob.
oh lowri, you have absolutely no idea
I like toast. But that does’nt mean I’m a homosexual.
Lowri Turner: obviously one of those people who doesn’t know her gay friends… I know her sort. IE straight girl who has idea that gays are fluffy and camp and doesn’t want to know the sexual or social realities of being gay, so you end up just humouring her with “sofa headaches” but then avoiding her calls because she has no relevance to your life whatsoever.. someone tell this woman that “most of her gay friends” probably despise her anyway…
This is good coming from someone who presented a TV makeover show!! Little homophobic Cow
there is no way in hell that Tupac Shakur was ever white!the lowlife people that made this up are just pathetic they obviously have nothing to do with there time
