Anyone familiar with Lost will know that all sorts of mental crap is the norm for the people on the island, but something has recently happened that not even the most ardent Lost fan will be able to believe.
That's right; forget that flashing black smoke or the exploding hatches or the man with the pretend beard or the way that Sergeant Zim from Starship Troopers managed to be the man who taught Sayid how to torture and the man in the hatch with the Scottish bloke – by far the weirdest Lost-related thing to happen lately is that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr Eko in Lost and was recently arrested for disobeying a police officer and driving without a license, has had his charges dropped. A member of the Lost cast who knows how to drive a car properly? Now that is unbelievable.
Hawaii used to be a desirable holiday destination, but Lost has gone and spoilt all of that. Any holidaymakers not put off by the prospect of loose polar bears running around or pieces of metal plummeting from the sky or men creeping up behind them and screaming "WAAAAAALT!" in their ear will have probably been dissuaded from going to Hawaii because there's a good chance that one of the Lost cast will run them over in their car.
The signs aren't good; Lost stars Cynthia Watros and Michelle Rodriguez have been arrested for drink driving in the past – Watros escaped with a 90-day ban and Rodriguez ended up in jail – while Sayid, Charlie, Boone and Sawyer have all been fined for speeding around Hawaii. And, most recently, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who plays (played? plays?) Mr Eko in Lost was arrested for driving without a license and disobeying a police officer. At the time Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje spent six hours in jail and posted $500 bail, but now his charges have been dropped, as E! Online reports:
According to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, the Honolulu District Court dropped the first charge after the actor's lawyer, Scott Collins, was able to prove that Akinnuoye-Agbaje did, in fact, have a California driver's license at the time of his arrest. The charge of disobeying an officer was also dropped after prosecutors decided it could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Akinnuoye-Agbaje didn't appear in court for the charges' dismissal because it was a misdemeanour case.
Of course, the fact that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was in Hawaii at all means that Mr Eko probably didn't bite it in the Lost season two finale, even though it looked like he really did. However, if we were judge in charge of dropping the charges, we'd have threatened to lock up Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje unless he explained what that weird bit in the arctic with the radar at the end of the last episode of Lost was all about.
