Lily Allen Second Series BBC ThreeDespite the initial series drawing in less viewers than The Paint Dry Update Channel on a slow news night, BBC 3 has decided to bring back TV disaster Lily Allen And Friends for a second series.

Quite what the general - and licence-paying, we might add - public has done to deserve this is anyone's guess. Maybe the BBC has some secret plan to put us all into a coma so they can get away with showing Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps reruns all day long without anyone complaining.

Or killing themselves.

Lily Allen herself, of course, is delighted that her TV show is to return, shrugging off the fact that so far it's been about as popular as an XBox 360 in a retirement home. She yakked thus:

"I'm thrilled we're going to make a second series of the show, it's been such a laugh. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who tuned in, and I can't wait to film series two."

'Everyone who tuned in'? Couldn't Lily just have gone round to their houses and thanked them all personally? It'd be a pretty easy task - just head down to Remedial Avenue and knock on the door of the Dullard residence. The occupants will be happy to chat. Provided they're not too busy watching Ant And Dec's Saturday Takeaway, that is. Or colouring in the margins of their Dan Brown novels.

Interestingly, the BBC itself remained steadfast as to why they'd recommissioned Lily's Hour O' Drivel, other than stating:

"Lily is a star. She has developed astoundingly well as a TV host."

There you go, kids. She's developed. Implying that she wasn't very good in the first place and shouldn't have been employed. Almost enough to make you think that certain aspects of the media aren't really based on talent or ability, but are in fact nepotism-fuelled work experience playgrounds for well-connected yet ultimately useless rich kids.

Which is obviously untrue.

Obviously.
