Lil’ Kim Gets A Year And A Day In Jail
Lil’ Kim has been sentenced for lying to a grand jury investigating a shoot-out outside a radio station in Manhattan four years ago.
Tiny, mostly naked, award-winning rapper Lil’ Kim was given a year and a day in jail and a $50,000 fine for her crime – a shorter sentence than the three years that federal prosecutors were after.
Lil’ Kim was found guilty of lying about a shoot-out outside the Hot
97 radio station involving her entourage and a rival gang. Her
testimony went against recorded CCTV evidence.
The judge, Gerald Lynch, compared the trial to that of Martha
Stewart. The uber-housewife was sentenced to five months in jail for
lying about a stock trade. "Lying to a grand jury about people getting shot and carrying machine guns is more serious than lying about money," he said.
He added that prior to the sentencing, Lil’ Kim – real name
Kimberley Jones – had held press conferences claiming that the
government was on a kind of "witch hunt because of who she was … a successful African-American woman in the entertainment industry."
"I testified falsely…. I now know it was wrong. I’m a God-fearing, good person." said Lil’ Kim before the sentencing.
What do you think about the sentencing? Was Lil’ Kim purely being used as an example, or was the judge too light on her? Leave your comments below.

she deserved more time. It sets a bad example for liars in court. You can’t lie yourself out of a serious crime. She should have got two or three years. As for being so succesful, she hasn’t had a hit in years, and has been riding on her attempts to be a complete prozzy in music, and dresses like a complete slut to gain media coverage.
