Kylie Minogue seems to have recovered from her battle against breast cancer to such an extraordinary degree that she's now happily making all kinds of public appearances everywhere, all willy-nilly.
First, Kylie appeared at a nightclub to try and help her lumbering sister Dannii Minogue try and flog more than a handful of copies of her desperately awful Greatest Hits CD, and now Kylie Minogue has given her first full interview all about her struggle with cancer. In the interview, Kylie tells Cat Deeley that she still has "a mountain to climb" before she's back to full fitness. We don't know why Kylie wants to climb a mountain, though; surely it'd be better to just start off with some moderate exercise.
Kylie Minogue is coming out of the other side of her breast cancer battle relatively intact; intact enough to arrange to play Glastonbury next year – which is good news for heartwarming stories of human triumph over adversity but bad news for anyone who was planning to go to Glastonbury to watch some dirty indie boys with eyeliner thrash about instead of a woman singing I Should Be So Lucky for a bit. Kylie Minogue is now doing so well that she's given an interview to Cat Deeley for Sky, where she discusses her incredible recovery. During the interview, to be screened on Sunday, Kylie says how the disease changed her:
"I
think I was pretty compassionate before, but now I have a much deeper
understanding of what it is to have a trial to go through and it does
bring out something wonderful in a lot of people. I've
made some friends that I will cherish for ever. Now when I visit the
children's hospital, which I always used to do before, they know that I
know. I feel had I not discovered that until a little later, the story
might be very different. I'm not here to scare people at all. It just
happens, so just be aware."
During her recovery from cancer, Kylie Minogue has been putting herself to good use, mainly by writing a children's book and charging around on an elephant, but there are still concerns that she won't be well enough to perform when her proposed comeback tour kicks off. And getting fit is the mountain that Kylie Minogue said that she must climb. It wasn't a real mountain she was talking about. But we had you going for a bit, admit it:
"I have to get on that walking machine and I've never been in this
situation before where I have to start from the beginning. I don't have the strength, I don't have the stamina. I don't have
everything I took for granted before. So I've got a mountain to climb."
